Work not performed properly. Garage still leaks
They came out on March 13th to fix my leaky garage. They said they were finished and were pain. I called them on March 15th to tell them my garage is still leaking from the same area. They sent *** out March 30th to inspect work performed. Lee said that some will be out tomorrow. Tomorrow never came. They said someone will be out 13 March to fix the garage. I got no call and no show.

Desired Outcome

March 13th Allied came out to fix leaky garage. I called them March 15th to inform them that the garage is still leaking. Put the trench too far from where it was leaking.

After The job was completed and we received the complaint that the system had failed, our companies production supervisor went out to inspect the problem and give a plan of action. Unfortunately due to Covid19 our company is limited to where we can travel and work that can be performed at the moment, we do not plan to leave Mr. with a failed system, He was informed when he called after *** came out that our company scheduling would be behind for a few weeks due to running a skeleton crew in order to protect the health of our customers and our employees.

Damages to my property during the April installation of water management, encapsulation and piers resulted in repairs costing me $14,261.
Backhoe hit my house on 3 occasions while digging a pier. The foreman said the operator was inexperienced. Project manager said they had an estimate between 300 and 700 dollars. I would be contacted in the next week to schedule repairs. No call ever came. Repair estimate received is $2000.

A decorative bush was dug up during pier work. The tap root was cut and it was not reburied for 2 days. It died and had to be removed/replaced. An AFACS vehicle drove over lawn sprinkler lines breaking the underground pipe and sprinkler head. Other garden plants were killed during pier work. Drainage lines leading from under the house were not buried. Dirt had to be added and packed. Cost of repairs; $3,350.

The condensate line taking water away from hvac unit under the house was knocked off while removing insulation from underneath the house. The project manager agreed attach the line into the water removal system and pump. He said during punch list this was complete. When I check, it was not done. I tried contacting him via text and cell phone. No reply. In a week, water backing up into the hvac ruined the motor and a new a/c system had to be installed. We were without a/c for a week. Cost of new a/c system was $8,900.

A 3 foot by 3 foot area on the ground underneath the house was not encapsulated with white 20 mil vapor barrier. I want a 4 ft by 4 ft piece of white 20 mil vapor barrier to be mailed to my house so I can install this.

I want my retainage money of $1000 not to be considered in the settlement and be refunded.

The company lied to me about repairs being done and ignored my calls and texts. I left messages with the salesman on two occasions. He took my calls as late as 8 pm when he was trying to win the contract. I text and left 2 cell phone messages with the project manager, Lee. I left 3 phone messages for ***, the owner and no response. I left a 4th message on 8/28 indicating legal action is being considered.

Desired Outcome

Reimburse $3000 out of $8900 for the new air conditioning unit. The unit was 18 years old. It was well maintained and would have lasted several years longer. I waited for AFACS to tie the condensation line into the drainage. The project manager Lee said this was done and it was not. Within in a week, water backing into the motor ruined the a/c system and we were without a/c for a week during a stretch of 100 degree days. Reimburse $2000 for repairs to the stucco on the outside of the house resulting from the backhoe damage. Reimburse $3350 for repairs to sprinkler system, disposal and replacement of plants destroyed and buried an water exhaust line in the front yard. Mail me a 4' x 4' piece of vapor barrier so I can cover the ground in one area that was not finished. The $1000 retainage cannot be used in the settlement. I request a check from AFACS for $8350. As mentioned, I am out of pocket for $14,300

The customer has made a complaint about the work performed at his residence and asked for reimbursement for damages caused. Our excavator did make 2 cuts in his stucco and we offered to pay for those damages. We contracted with an individual that gave us a price and multiple dates that he would be going out to repair the damages and that never happened. As far as the HVAC unit goes, the customer himself removed the insulation in that area, we were never contracted to removed the insulation but when my guys got there he told them that he had removed most of it and asked them to do the rest for free. the customer asked for us to install the a/c drain line into our pump and was told that we could not do that because it would void the warranty. He then asked for it to be ran through the block, we are not a HVAC company so we could not do that. the customer has asked for us to pay for a new HVAC unit because he claims the drain line is what caused the 18 year old unit to fail however I have contacted 3 HVAC companies who all said this would be an extremely unlikely cause of a unit to burn up. The bush that the customer is referring to we offered to pay for even though our contract does not guarantee shrubbery. The customer also stated that our vehicle damaged his sprinkler line but our vehicles were parked on the street. I have offered to go back and fix anything in our contract that needs to be addressed and have also offered an additional $1000 to the customer in addition to the $1000 that he never paid. I did o though phone records to verify the customers account and there are many inaccuracies in that account as well as the person that he adamant that he spoke to previously did not work here at that time. The salesman has not worked here in over 2 months. The day I(owner) received a message from him at 4:39 pm and I responded by 9 am the next morning to set up a meeting with the customer. I saw the text from the customer about the a/c to the production manager and the production manager said that he spoke with the customer on the phone and told him that we could not run the HVAC line like he wanted. I would love to resolve this issue but the customer was adamant with me that he wanted over $8000 to make it go away and I do not believe that is fair or realistic

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
This has come down to I said/employees said and the owner obviously is protecting his business after "his investigation".

The house was hit 3 times by an inexperienced excavator (AFACS supervisor's words). On April 29, the project manager said I would be called in the next two days by someone to schedule repairs. I received a text from the project manager on May 7 indicating he "would get with me on the house" Never received a call or text after that. I called the salesman a week indicating nothing was being done about the house or hvac. He said he would bring this up the next morning and get back with me. Obviously he was still representing AFACS at the time of the call. No response. Two weeks later I started leaving messages for the owner. I spoke with a phone person each time who took my name and number and said the owner would get back to me. On the fourth call to the owner, when I threatened legal action, he called me back.

Insulation removal. The job was bid several months earlier. I asked the salesman to come to my house shortly before the contract was signed to explain some items in more detail. We walked under the house and I showed him where I had pulled insulation and where there was remaining insulation. He did not mention any additional costs. The only time I spoke to anyone on the crew was to ask them not to leave cigarette butts in my backyard. My dogs were eating them.

Sprinkler system damage. The crew trucks always parked near the drive way under a tree. The broken sprinkler head was right beside the drive way. They pulled into the driveway to unload equipment or turn around. There was debris on the driveway so obviously they were on it. Also a buried line was broken as a result of being driven on near the drive. The system is new and it worked before AFACS started work. I turned the sprinkler on a few days after AFACS left and found the broken head and piping. This rendered the zone of sprinklers useless since there was no water pressure. I had to pay to have this repaired along with replacing the dead bush and matching bush nearby. I paid $3000 for all the repairs.

HVAC. The project manager said AFACS would not replace the condensation line going through the brick wall. He did agree to put the line into a new drain made by AFACS that takes water out to the yard. He even indicated as he was leaving on April 29 that the crew had done this. The a/c died 2-3 weeks later while I was waiting for AFACS to do what they said they would do. Lee and Co., a reputable company who did the a/c work, has pictures showing 2.5 inches of water which had backed up into the main unit under the house. The technician indicated the motor and compressor burned up as a result of the water. I will put the owner in touch with someone at Lee and Co if he does not believe me. I would have made other arrangements had I known everyone including the owner at AFACS would ignore me. I asked for a third of the new unit price since it resulted from the company not returning my calls,

Not reaching the owner. I left three messages with the person answering the phone. She would even leave her desk to look for the owner. The owner finally answered my call when I threatened legal action.

Suggested resolution: There are still repairs required due to poor workmanship on the dehumidifier (it is unlevel and leaks) and not completing the 20 mm vinyl in one area. However I do not trust AFACS. I will have another foundation company repair these items and give the bill to AFACS. I will have the stucco repaired and give the bill to AFACS. I am awaiting a second quote for this work. The first one was $2000. I will accept $1000 for the bush, sprinkler repair even though it cost me much more than that.

This has been very unpleasant and I am not out for a fast buck as the owner implied during our meeting.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Oct 16, 2019

Revdex.com spoke with Mr., he is willing to refund $1500.00 in addition to the $1000 that was unpaid on the bill. That would be a total of $2500.00 for your damages.

Customer Response • Oct 20, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am in agreement with $1500 settlement. The following conditions must also be met. These have been outlined in previous e-mails:
> Fix the stucco damaged by the back hoe on the outside of the house
> Fix or replace the dehumidifier under the house. I showed Mr. that it is leaking. Now it is malfunctioning and making a lot of noise. It is still under warranty.
> Place white barrier where it was left off by a support
> Readjust the tension on the support which does not have. I bumped into a support and it fell over. It is simply placed against the support joist and provides no support.
> All repairs are to be done within one month of acceptance
> Mr. will review repairs with me at the property. His project managers are not trust worthy.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Oct 29, 2019

I have called the customer a couple of times to schedule a day to fix the things in the complaint. He called and told the secretary he had been out of town and for me to call him back. I just left another message for the customer to call us back.

Customer Response • Nov 03, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I will reach out to the owner directly. A lady has called twice but is unavailable when I return calls.

My contract with that company, dated Nov 16, 2018 clearly outlines their commitment to install 8 pillar under my house and to level the floor between my living dining room. My initial contact was with Allen ***. Total contracted price for this project was Three Thousand, one hundred and no/100 dollars with 50% due at contract and the balance due on completion of the job. My records show a payment to AFACS of $1550 on 11/26/2018 and $1550 on 11/30/2018.

Following completion of the contract II contacted Mr. Allen *** repeatedly relative to concerns relative to the job without a response - e.g., no callback and continue to seek redress by calling 1/11/19 (left msg. requesting callback)

Got a callback telling me that "a team would come out Friday, 1/18/19 to correct the problem. When the crew did not show as agreed I again called the company and talked to *** and was told that they would come out at 1:00 p.m. A team did come out, made some adjustments but told me that one of the posts was not properly installed and needed to be replaced and they would talk to Allen and be back in touch with me.

When I hadn't heard from the company by 1/25/2019 I contacted the company (talked to Shelby) and advised that the adjustment was not sufficient and that I'd been told a post needed to be redone and that they would be back in touch with me. I specifically asked that *** return to measure the correction and inspect the job himself. *** promised that she would talk to Allen and that "someone" would be in touch with me. Mr. Allen was to come out to inspect the job on 2/1/2019. Mr. did not show (as scheduled) and when I called the office I was told that Allen would need to bring a crew - with the promise that they would bring a crew to complete the job on Friday, 1/8/2019 at at 10:30 in the morning. When no one showed on the 8th I again contacted the office on Feb 14, 2019, talked, again, to *** and was told that Allen would come out Friday. March 15th in the morning with a crew to insure that all repairs were completed. I called at 8:10 a.m. to ascertain time of arrival and was told that "they were supposed to call me to give me a time". I assured her that I had not received a call - she told me she would contact them and have them call me with a time. I asked whether *** would be with them and was told that she did not know. She said she'd check with him and let me know. She said they had two adjustments that day and mine was one of them.

I did receive a call from *** who assured me he would be at my house between 1:30 and 1:45 - with helpers. (3/15) He assured me that he can assess the job and fix whatever is needed. His examination resulted in a decision that 'at least one post was not appropriately installed (no poured base - post simply placed on a concrete block) and that additional supports may be needed. He told me that He would return the following Friday afternoon. He also assured me that he would bring a laser level to insure the 'best possible adjustment.. No return visit/no call.

ON 4/24.2019 I talked again with ***, expressing my consternation. He assured me that he would be out with a crew Friday 4/26/2019 at 1:00 to inspect and correct the problem.

On 4/25 I received a call from Allied Foundation stating that "*** needs to look over this job and asking if we could move the appt from 1:00 today to the following Friday. I pressed the importance of no further delays and that I was 'losing patience I was assured that *** would be out an Friday , May 3, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. On May 3 the office called to advise me that *** had been injured and could not come out and wanted to send someone else. In my exasperation I told them, "I want to see Allen." I was told that they would call when he was "better."

I was contacted by Allied by text on May 2, 2019 (form letter) designating an appoint for Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. This email specified that Mr. Allen *** would be stopping by on Friday, May 3 at 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, May 4 I sent an email voicing my concerns relative to the continuing delay on completion of this job, voicing concern for Chris' injuries and specifying that I want him to find the time to do this assessment, pointing out that the company was not in compliance with the terms of our contract and appealing for him to personally become involved.

Desired Outcome

I would like a confirm appointment with Mr. and an immediate schedule to complete this project.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Aug 15, 2019

We have been to Mr. house several times to adjust. The last time we went to his house we were met with someone related to him. He didn't know what was going on and he was drinking alcohol. We left the residence since we didn't feel comfortable with the situation. Mr. has a 15 year support adjustment warranty and can make an appointment to come out to adjust the supports when he can be at home. We also don't have a *** working for us.

Customer Response • Aug 17, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Yes, they did come out and yes my adult son had to handle that contact. My absence was caused by a schedule conflict in which I had to be in Nashville. And yes, he may have had a beer or two before they arrived. His role was only to let them have access to the worksite. The company was to provide their workers with the necessary instructions. He tells me that they set up a laser light device to try to adjust the floor and his recollection is they told him they would have to come back out to complete the job. That visit was on May 17 and they have not been back. Now, on closer inspection I find that a post was initially improperly installed and that it continue to lie on the ground w/o being installed at all. Also, a vapor barrier I had installed was not put back in place and two A/C ducts were not rehung to the joists and an air return was disconnected and not reconnected.. I have taken pictures of the installation and have still other concerns which I intend to communicate to them when they return to complete the job.
I did receive a call this week stating that Allen, the owner, would be out on the 30th of this month to insure that the job is completed to my satisfaction. For now, I would like the case to remain open.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Aug 23, 2019

We are coming out on the 30th to take care of any issues but we want to deal with the owner only

Customer Response • Aug 30, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Personnel from this company did come to my house this morning, as proposed. They did some of the needed work. They have proposed corrections that I hope will complete this job next week. I am certainly willing to give them every opportunity to fulfill our contractual obligations.

I sincerely appreciate the assistance the Revdex.com have provided and will provide a final report relative to this complaint after the work is completed. Again, thank you for your assistance in this matter.

I have a lifetime warranty on the piers installed on my foundation. They have failed or shifted and I cannot get the company to come repair them.
In August 2015, two piers were placed under a corner of my home to support the foundation and correct a crack in the brick. This was a condition that was agreed upon by the previous owner (who had the piers installed) in order for me to buy the house. In July/August 2018, the piers either failed or shifted resulting in the crack reappearing and damage being done to the sheet rock inside and brick in other places close to the original crack.
I had Allied Crawlspace Solutions/Allied Foundation & Crawlspace Solution come out to look at it. They proceeded to give me an estimate to correct the other issues. After several emails back and forth with, they stopped responding. Finally, in June 2019, I spoke with someone who assured me that someone would be at my house to uphold the conditions of the warranty and repair the existing piers on July 11, 2019. When they did not show up, I called and was told that the lady I had spoken with in June was "on a business trip", there was no record of being scheduled (2nd time that's happened in 2 weeks) and "Mr. said a crew would be out there first thing in the morning. I'm not holding my breath.

Desired Outcome

I want the piers repaired immediately and correctly and I want this company to be held accountable for not upholding their end of the warranty thus far.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Jul 15, 2019

The house is facing east and the north section of the house has settled past where are piers. We told the customer we would adjust. We came out in September 2018 and the salesman told her that she needed more piers to fix the settling. She told our salesman that she didn't have the money at the time. Our company came out last week to look at her house. The owner put the laser on the outside of her house and found out the north side had settled. We will adjust her house but he doesn't think that will fix the problem. If we adjust our piers it will continue to make the other side shift. That will make our piers need adjusting again

Customer Response • Jul 16, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Whether or not I have the money to install any other piers is irrelevant and needs to be removed from the response.
The bottom line, my job was supposed to start on July 11th. When I called to see what time the crew would be there, it wasn't even showing on the schedule. Then they hurriedly sent a crew out to "look at the house" and told my daughter they would have to call me. I still haven't received a phone call. I want the existing piers repaired as per the warranty. Nothing else.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Jul 19, 2019

We have been trying to contact the customer several times and left messages. We are trying to come adjust this week but with the rain we needed to verify with the customer a good day

They left my yard a mess. They left mounds of dirt. Burnt my neighbors bush row on her property. Owner notified--never responded.
They did a great job inside and were kind enough to clean out a flower bed, but after the brick layer they just left my side of the house with mounds of dirt. They did not level out the mounds they dug. They also burnt a my neighbors boxwood bush row. It was on her property. I notified the owner through his assistant. I asked if they were going to come out and smooth out the dirt, and what they would do about my neighbors bushes. My neighbor has called in a plant expert to see if her bush row is going to survive. I have heard nothing from the owner. I consider level the yard and compensating my neighbor part of your responsibility. I understand you have in the contract that you are not responsible for any damage to the customer's landscaping, but this is not mine. Your machine exhaust damaged something on her property. They were quick to want their payment, so much so that they sales rep forgot to pick up the check. They didn't want me even to mail it locally, but I accommodated them by having the sales person pick up a check while my husband and I were out to dinner. I also mailed the brick layer's check to them immediately when notified. The sales person even went over to the neighbors house prior to her bushes being burnt to try and sell them their services. I don't think she would even consider using them now. I have pictures of the mounds of dirt and bush damage.

Desired Outcome

Level out the dirt on the side of the home (finish the job) and speak with my neighbor about her bush damage. If not replace her bushes, at least pay her for the plant expert that came out to her house to evaluate the damage.

We were out at the customers house the day before we got the complaint filling in the holes with dirt. We have offered the neighbor money for the bushes even though we don't feel like we are at fault. We are trying to make everything right with the customer and her neighbor

Customer Response • Jun 25, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They showed up after I complained. My general contractor said they showed up with a rake and shovel. The yard is not level. I guess I will have to level it myself. I don't know how you can state it is not your fault when you damage a neighbors property. I will check with my neighbor to see if she is satisfied.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Jul 02, 2019

We came out the day before we got the complaint. We didn't even know the customer had filed the complaint. We offered the neighbor 10 times what the bushes are worth. She turned us down and wants 70 times what the bushes are worth. We are willing to pay the neighbor $500 but she has yet to call and talk to us. We have went by her house several times but she hasn't been at home.

Allied installed a Lentil Lift system over my garage. Cosmetically it is awful. It is now failing structurally.
I contracted with Allied Crawlspace Solutions in Sept. of 2018 to install a Lentil Lift system over my garage door. The system was never completed and concerns over the cosmetics have only been addressed by excuses and delays. On April 15, 2019 I met with ***. He looked at my problems and took a few pictures. The last thing he said was "I will be back with you in no more than 24 hours." It is now 49 hours and I have heard nothing from him or anyone else at Allied.

Desired Outcome

The system installed has obvious ( to me) inherent problems. My only solution is get a refund and use that money to initiate another repair with a different company.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • Apr 19, 2019

We contacted Mr. Connor and told him that the manufacturer of the Lintel Lift will be out to see him on 4/23.

Customer Response • Apr 23, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
To begin with, the response is no real response to my problem. Having someone else come out and look at my problem is pointless. However, they never showed up! So I am left right back where I started. I received a phone call from *** with Allied Foundation Solutions on April 18th advising me that reps from the company that made the lentil lift would be coming by on April 23 between 10:00 and 10:30 am. It is now past 6:30 pm on April 23 and I have not received so much as a phone call from them or from Allied. That is in keeping with how this entire situation has been handled.

Allied Crawlspace Solutions DBA The Foundation Doctors Response • May 15, 2019

The Maker of the product went out to the customers house and are planning on fixing the customers lintel lift. Waiting to hear back from Lintel Lift

Allied Foundation and Crawl Space did a fantastic foundation job on our home in the Oak Lea area of Decatur. I highly recommend them. We have had previous push peer work by another contractor, but their prices are on average 20% higher, and they almost doubled the number of push peers required. We had multiple bids on our current foundation issues. ***, the owner, came in and personally assessed our foundation with highly accurate laser measuring devices. Within one week of our acceptance of the bid, they had a team on the ground and completed the work in less than three days. Their crew was very friendly, and took great care in assuring that our lawn was returned to its previous state and filled in the cracks in our walls with matching cement. Their business staff is very responsive and willing to work with us on pricing, financing and scheduling. All around AFCS is a first class business. I highly recommend them.
