The customers sump pump went out and they filed a claim with their home warranty company. The home warranty company sent us out. We checked out the sump pump which was failing. According to the home warranty's rules, the sump pump was not...
covered because they had water other than ground water going into the sump pump. They had their laundry tied into the sump pump. We told them we could replace the sump pump but they would have to pay for it. They agreed, we installed it, they paid us and signed our paperwork. If it is a question as to whether the home warranty should have covered it they need to talk to their home warranty. We charged for the sump pump and the deductible for the home warranty.

If the part was indeed covered by the home warranty than the customer needs to file for a reimbursement from the home warranty company. We have talked to our rep and she indicated it was not covered. Here is the section she sent us.
"it does note the washer and 2 sinks are connected to this pump and their contract specifically stated we cover for pumps (ground water only.)"
We would be willing to reimburse [redacted] but cannot reimburse the whole cost as we did install a new sump pump.
