Allram Lumber Company recently received a customer concern/complaint letter in the mail and we would like to respond to this complaintAlong with responding to this complaint we have also attached the invoice Byron Hopke received as well as the estimate/questionnaire Byron went over directly with
TravisThis questionnaire is a starting point for any shed/pole building that we do a bid forIt has the customer answer generic questions about their plans for their future buildingMaterial, design, and customized doors/windows/etccan be added or deducted at any time after the initial bid is given (or even before the bid is done for that matter). MrHopke never voiced a single concern to our company or to his contractor who works exclusively through Allram Lumber Co., until after the building was already completed and he saw our generic ad in the paperThe ad that is placed in a number of papers is a “package pole building”It is a package that we work directly with our distributers to offer to customers, while this shed by no means is not good quality, it certainly is not the best material we have to offerThis basic shed is listed in the ad as a generic pole packageThis package offers no customization and we are able to offer this package at this price because it is very cut and dryThe minute a customization or change is made it is no longer a “package” and the price will increase. Here is the description of the basic pole package that is listed in our ad: 6xPoles (Bryon got Titan Columns), No Overhang(Byron had a foot overhang), One Prime Jam Door (Byron got a Clad Jam Door), One Overhead Door Non-Insulated (Byron received TWO top of the line insulated doors), Non-Shelf Girted Walls (Bryon received shelf girted walls), The ad does not offer any windows what so ever (Bryon chose to have a window), Galvalume Steel (which only has an option of four colors) (Byron got galvanized steel and in a color that was not a part of the four color options not to mention this is a completely different steel than what is offered in the ad)All of these options or changes to the initial advertisement add increased labor costs as well an increase in the material that is chosen. So as you can see with the amount of changes that were made to our “package pole building” there is no doubt the price would increase. The estimate that is attached to this email is the exact estimate that Bryon received prior to placing a down paymentNo complaints were given at the time this estimate was presented to him and he moved forward with placing the down payment in a timely manner. Allram Lumber Company did receive a handwritten letter from Bryon stating his concerns about the ad and his shed only after the completion of this shedTravis then proceeded to call Byron and discuss this issue with him in GREAT detail discussing that options were given and BYRON made the ultimate end decisions as this is HIS pole buildingThe conversation went on for no less than minutes where Travis attempted to explain to Byron the grave differences in the “package pole building” ad and the shed that Byron ultimately designed himselfAll of the examples in differences stated above were given to Bryon during this discussion as wellWe are like any other retailerWe do not bring up our “sales” or packages unless the customer inquiries about them firstHad Bryon inquired about this package building the differences would have been presented to him at that time as wellTravis is very thorough with our customers and takes pride in providing a quality maintenance free building at an affordable priceAll estimates are presented before any down payments are taken on our end and they are approved by the customer before any such request for a down payment is received.
