Review: Our Homeowner's Ins with Allstate/Baciocco Bros of Sacramento was cancelled after 38 years as a loyal customer.Specifically - last year (May 2013) we filed a claim for a break-in. Allstate/Baciocco paid the claim of approx. $1,500. However, in March of this year we were informed by Allstate that they were going to do an inspection of our home. (We've never had a home inspection in the 38 years that we have been a customer.) As a result of the inspection they informed us:1. that a rain gutter had to be repaired2. a tree close to our roof line had to be removed3. that ivy had to be remove from the side of the houseWe were told that our renewal date of Aug. 12, 2014 was the deadline to make these improvements or our policy would be cancelled.We made the required repairs by June 26, 2014 at an expense of $824.00 by the [redacted]o. (Cancelled check available if needed.)On July 2, 2014 [redacted] of Allstate/Baciocco Bros did a photo documentation of the repairs at which point he stated that he would forward the photos to the underwriters for review but that in his words: "This whole issue will probably now just disappear."We did not hear back from Baciocco Bros for several weeks so I called them to find out the results of the underwriter's review. They informed me that our policy was going to be cancelled and that we had not met the requirements of the the inspection. I pointed out that in fact the requirements had been met and documented by [redacted] and also photographed by myselfThe crux of our complaint is that Allstate/Baccioco Bros. are using the "vegetation issue" as an excuse to cancel our policy due to the claim we filed last year (which was the only homeowner's claim that we've ever filed on this house.) Conversations with friends and other insurance companies has revealed that Allstate has a pattern of homeowner cancellations after a claim has been filed. They use vegetation or other unrelated issues as a justification for the cancellationDesired Settlement: We incurred $824 in expenses for the required repairs and yet our policy was still cancelled.We now must pay $300 more per year for two years for Homeowner's Ins because we are new customers of another company. We are asking to be reimbursed for those expenses. $824 + $300 + $300 = $1,424.We would also like information on what seems to be a pattern of Homeowner cancellations by Allstate using "contrived issues" to cancel insurance after a claim has been filed.

Response:

The insured Homeowners policy was non renewed due to an unfavorable home inspection. Allstate reserves the right, regardless of a customers tenure, to inspect the property and request repairs and/or cleanups. This property had substantial Ivy growing on the house as well as repair work needed on the eves. The customer did not complete the work in time for the policy renewal and we were not able to continue coverage. Also, The insureds non renewal had nothing to do with having a previous claim on their homeowners policy.
