Allstate Insurance Company-Raquel Silva Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased a six-month auto insurance policy, paying in full up front. Insurance charging me for change to policy I did not approve or authorize.
In February 2017, I purchased a six-month auto insurance policy of liability coverage for two cars I co-own, fully paying up front in cash ($184.36) for said policy. I plainly told Ms. *** (insurance rep) my wife and I were to be the only drivers named in the policy. Ms. brought up the matter of my son turning eighteen in May and asked if my son would also be operating the vehicle(s) during the term of the policy. Again, I plainly told Ms. the policy was intended for me and my wife only.
In May 2017, around the time of my son's eighteenth birthday, I received a call from Ms. who said Allstate Insurance had automatically added my son to the policy as a third driver and that I would have to pay additional money. I quickly reminded Ms. that I already had paid upfront for a policy that was to cover me and my wife exclusively. I questioned Ms. concerning the tactic by Allstate Insurance to not only modify the original terms of the policy but also automatically add my son to said policy upon his eighteenth birthday without my approval or authorizationespecially when I had so clearly told her (Ms. on at least two occasions that my wife and I were to be the only named drivers of the vehicle(s). Ms. said exclusion of my son from the policy as a third driver would require me to make the trip to her office and complete various documents.
Ms. telephone call more or less coincided with my receipt in the mail of a bill from Allstate Insurance, who was charging me an additional $143.89. As per this bill, which I received on or about Saturday, May 27, 2017, I was to make a payment of at least $71.94 by Sunday, June 18, 2017. Due to my being out of town, I was unable to immediately address the situation.
On Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in response to the aforementioned billing statement, I called the local branch office of Allstate Insurance where I had purchased the auto insurance policy, hoping to discuss the merit of the outstanding bill with *** the branch agent. Instead, I spoke with "*** who said Ms. was unavailable. I explained the situation to Ms. who said the matter could be rectified simply by my completing a so-called "Exclusion of Named Driver and Partial Rejection of Coverage" form. Hoping to keep from driving across town for this purpose, I asked Ms. if she could electronically send the
form(s) to me and I, in turn, email to her an electronic facsimile of the signed document(s); Ms. agreed and sent me the document(s). In no more than two days' time, I emailed the signed form(s).
On Saturday, July 22, 2017, weeks prior to the expiration of the six-month policy with Allstate Insurance, I sought and obtained auto insurance with Progressive, paying in full upfront; that policy took effect on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, and is to be in effect through Friday, February 16, 2018.
On Friday, August 18, 2017, I sent Ms. *** an email, officially informing her (and, in effect, Allstate Insurance) that I had secured an auto insurance policy elsewhere and, therefore, would not be renewing my policy with Allstate Insurance.
On or about Monday, August 28, 2017, I received in the mail a billing statement from Allstate Insurance, who was seeking from me a payment of $59.62 upon receipt of the bill.
On or about Tuesday, September 5, 2017, I received in the mail a second billing statement from Allstate Insurance, who was seeking from me a payment of $59.62 upon receipt of the bill.

Desired Outcome

My objective in reporting this matter to the Revdex.com is to have addressed possible impropriety and/or questionable business practices on the part of Allstate Insurance and its members. If the matter were simply about affordability, I would have no problem in coming up with the money to pay off the debt. However, there is a principle at work here. At no time did I agree or otherwise authorize, verbally or in writing, explicitly or implicitly, any change to the policy I had purchased from Allstate Insurance, specifically the addition of my son to the policy as a third driver of the vehicle(s). I have no intention of paying Allstate Insurance for a policy they, and they alone, chose to modify to their advantage midway through the life of said policy. Surely, Allstate Insurance will refer the matter to a collection agency and, in the process, tarnish my otherwise excellent credit history. I can only hope for a resolution agreeable to both sides.

Mr. received a call from our office on 4/13/17 to advise him that he needed to include or exclude his son from the policy as his son resides in his home and is of driving age. Customers have the option to include or exclude drivers that live in their household. He stated that the only ones driving his cars were he and his wife. He was advised that Allstate will be adding his son to the policy if the exclusion was not signed since he did not add him when the policy was purchased. Mr. did not want to sign the exclusion. On 7/12/17, he called to ask why he was receiving a statement for the additional premium of $143.89. We explained that we cannot backdate the exclusion and he faxed in the signed exclusion on this date. The following is how the premium and credits were issued:
Son added to policy on 5/9/17 thru 8/17/17 (100 of coverage @ $1.44/day) = 143.89
Mr. faxed in signed exlcusion for his son on 7/12/17
Policy was charged from 5/9/17-7/11/17 (63 days @ $1.44) = $90.72
Policy was terminated for non-payment on 7/18/17 and customer receiced credit of $31.09. (30 days left on his policy term)

143.89 Charge to add son
-53.18 (1.44*37 days)
-31.09 (30 days prior to end of policy term)
59.62 Balance

Mr. balance is $59.62. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need additional clarification.

Thank you.
