Allstate Medical Reviews (4)

Review: I ordered medical equipment from Allstate Medical Equipment which was sent to me and received at the end of May, 2013. The equipment consisted of headgear for use with a CPAP machine during sleep. The equipment was a new product and I found after trying it for a few nights that I could not use it comfortably. I contacted Allstate in June, 2013 to obtain a replacement that I could use. I was told someone would get back to me. By the end of July, 2013 no one had contacted me from Allstate. Instead, I received a bill for $536.00 for the unusable equipment. On August 12, 2013 I spoke with Ellis Dominguez at Allstate Equipment about returning the unusable equipment. I was told that I could not return it because I had used it. This seems inherently unfair. I think its implied that a medical device should work or I should have the right to return it. As a consumer, why should I have to pay for expensive medical equipment that I cant use? How do I know I cant use it without trying it? Allstate doesnt seem to care whether I can use it or not. They just want to gouge me. Maybe this is why medical insurance is so expensive. I tried to speak with the director of operations about this, Jack Brunk, but was told he refused to speak with me.Id really appreciate any help you can give me in dealing with Allstate Medical Equipment. I dont think I should pay $536.00 for something I cannot use.Desired Settlement: Accept return of unusable product and refund $536.00

Review: My insurance company Aetna purchases a cpap machine for me, in an effort to minimize my sleep apnea. I took this machine in to All State Medical on December 30, left it with Tricia for service. Within 1 hour, Tricia called me to say that the machine required no service and instructed me to pick it up. I called Tuesday, January 7 to inform All State that I'd be picking he machine up. Ellis, the self proclaimed manager, told me that I had an outstanding balance for the machine, that I didn't own the machine and that he would not release it back to me. I explained to Ellis that the balance was not for the machine and that I did own the machine. He insisted that I did not own the machine and that it was being re-possessed. I pleaded with him that my intentions were not to surrender the machine. I had only left it to be looked at by Tricia, upon her offering. Ellis was unable to substantiate the outstanding claims, and told me that he would not release the machine to me. It is unethical for a company to lure a customer in, by offering a free service, just to confiscate the equipment. The only way he would release m machine to me me was if I payed the amount owed of $169.60, of which I borrowed from a family member. Untreated sleep apnea can result in stroke or heart attack.Desired Settlement: 169.60

Review: I CHANGED OVER MY MED. INSURANCE AT THE FIRST OF THE YEAR 1/JAN/2014. WHEN DOING THIS ALLSTATE MEDICAL THEN SENT ME A BILL FOR MY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. I RECEIVED THE BILL AND CALLED THEM AND GAVE THEM ALL MY INSURANCE INFO AND THEY SAID THANK YOU AND WOULD UPDATE THE SYSTEM. THEN THE NEXT MONTH I RECIVED A BILL PLUS A LATE FEE OF $15 I CALLED AGAIN THIS TIME WITH MY INSURANCE COMANY ON THE PHONE. AGAIN THEY SAID THEY WOULD UPDATE THE INFORMATION. THIS HAS NOW CONTINUIED FOR FIVE MONTHS AND NOW WHEN I CALL THEM THEIR MAIL BOX IS FULL AND IT HANGS UP ON ME. SUPER UNACCEPTABLE. WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS HAS A FULL MAIL BOX?Desired Settlement: UPDATE MY INFO AND REMOVE THE FEES.

Review: I have been renting an oxygen machine from Allstate for some time. I no longer need the equipment and Allstate was notified of same. I called them to let them know I had a mouse that had chewed on the electrical cord so I could find out what needed to be done. Without even looking at the machine they said I'd be responsible for the entire machine in the amount of $750. Electrical cords are damaged all the time... I don't believe they were in a position to say the machine is in no way salvageable without even looking at it... it still works fine, the cord simply needs to be replaced. I'm willing to pay for the repair but think it's outrageous for them to ask me to pay for the entire machine without even looking at it...Desired Settlement: I'd like Allstate to send a representative to look at the machine and in the meantime, I will have it inspected to get the cost estimate for repairs. I'm willing to pay for the repair.
