I went to this lot in need of an inexspensive car. I explained to the car saleman [redacted], that I would have $1,500.00 in a week for a certain car. And that I would have the rest in 90 days. This money would be coming from an inheritance, I am unemployed, waiting on disability. He said that we could work with that. I returned with the money and decided on a different car, with the same understanding. A repo car (ironically) arrived on the lot. I drove it and liked it. I asked the price. He went to talk with the manager and came back with $3800. It was a disgusting mess. I said " I can pay you like we discussed before. $3000 cash. $1500 now, $1500 in 90 days same as cash. Just like it is." He discussed my offer with the manager and they agreed on it. Long story short, there is no record of this agreement. The contract was for roughly $5000. He explained that is what it would be if I didnt pay in 90 days. Dummy me thought you could still go on a person's word. I have been hasseled every 2 weeks since for payments. I have had to borrow money where I can. But again, I am unemployed. And I have told this story to everyone there. But there is no record, nobody remembers this conversation. Oh, and I was also told by their secretary that they do not finance. According to the owner they do.
On to the end, I could not come up with the amount I was behind by the 30th. So I called to make other arrangements. I explained that a relative in Ky was wiring me the money as soon as he received a check from me to hold. Enter the forgetful manager again. Very upset with me, but accepted a new arrangement, where I would have the money in before May 2nd, 2015 at 3 pm. An hour or so after, my car is being repossesed. The repo guys were very nice and did me a favor by taking it to the car lot instead of their lot. (we know what those fees are !) But now, "Honest" Abe's secretary is now telling me that a $300 repo fee has been tacked on.
These do not keep track of their conversations with their customers, have convenient lapses of memory. EXCEPT when payment is due. They can't tell me what my remaining balance for 90 days same as cash. As [redacted] told me: "We don't do the math for that. You will need to check your receipts and figure it out yourself." I don't know about their other locations, but this one is crooked.
