We regret the misunderstanding Ms [redacted] experienced while parking in Lahaina on February 13, 2016.Ms [redacted] believed she entered a parking lot that corresponded with a sandwich board sign advertising a $all day parking rate, however, that is not our sign and it is not at the entrance to our parking lot When Ms [redacted] went to the machine to purchase her ticket, she did in fact notice a different posted rate, but chose to ignore this She then also chose to ignore the sign on the ticket machine right next to the slot in which sheput her money that states "PLEASE PAY EXACT AMOUNT NO CHANGE GIVEN".Please find enclosed photos of our parking lot with our sign and the ticket machine used by Ms***.These lots are run on the honor system - there is no attendant on dutySomeone does periodically roam the lots to check for safety violations and to confirm all cars parked have purchased ticketsThis person is not in the position to offer refunds. When Ms [redacted] returned to her car after her excursion into Lahaina town she then violated the contract on the ticket by transferring the ticket to be used by another person in another car·Again, we regret the misunderstanding due to the adjacent lot's errantly placed sign, but this is not something we are in a position to police. We will not be refunding Ms***

I'm responding to case # [redacted] .I would like to apologize for not responding on time, I was out of town.We called Mr [redacted] and informed him that we will remove the violation issued to him and we resolved the matter satisfactory to him.Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention, we take these issues very seriously

Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:
The owner writes back "As to whether or not the parking attendant noticed the transfer of ticket, it would be difficult to ascertain," however if the parking attendant didn't in fact see that we had accepted a
parking ticket from another driver how would he then be able to have the evidence to then write us the citation? The owner further writes "It is not our policy to entrap our customers nor have we had similar complaints" which although may be true that it is not Aloha Parking's policy to do so, I witnessed myself that at least for one of their employees it is a practiceAlso, just because you have not had similar complaints that doesn't mean they don't exist as I suspect that most of your parking victims are tourist who don't find it worth their time to file a formal complaint over $ The parking lot attendant was standing within feet of us during the encounter we had with the driver who was leaving, my husband said "Hello" to the attendant! I am not defending that we were ultimately wrong and made a mistake, and although I disagree with the amount we were charged I have paid the fee I just strongly feel from the incident that it was the intention of the attendant to write us a ticket when he could have easily said "That is against the rules" which is why I cite the company with shady business practices
Sincerely,
Tiera A***

The owner further writes "It is not our policy to entrap our customers nor have we had similar complaints" which although may be true that it is not Aloha Parking's policy to do so, I witnessed myself that at least for one of their employees it is a practice. Also, just because you have not had similar complaints that doesn't mean they don't exist as I suspect that most of your parking victims are tourist who don't find it worth their time to file a formal complaint over $30.
The parking lot attendant was standing within 10 feet of us during the encounter we had with the driver who was leaving, my husband said "Hello" to the attendant! I am not defending that we were ultimately wrong and made a mistake, and although I disagree with the amount we were charged I have paid the fee.  I just strongly feel from the incident that it was the intention of the attendant to write us a ticket when he could have easily said "That is against the rules" which is why I cite the company with shady business practices.
