Doctor did thourough examination on dog and both Doctor and technician stepped out of room to allow daughter to call mother and discuss what they wanted to do for treatment plan.  Upon re-entering exam room, doctor and technician where told by daughter that owner wanted chemistry and cbc...

tests ran along with updating vaccines (distemper/parvo and rabies) and wanted more heartworm preventative.  Staff discussed with daughter that we could not refill the heartworm preventative without a current negative heartworm test within the last 12 months (this is following guidelines from the American Heartworm Society-"Annual testing is an integral part of ensuring that prophylaxis is achieved and maintained.").  We explained the risks of refilling the heartworm preventative without a negative heartworm test and offered an against medical consent form or to do the test.  Daughter wanted the test run to get more preventative.  As previously mentioned daughter wanted vaccines updated and okayed both distemper/parvo and rabies.  Shot record given to clinic is not a vaccination record from patients regular veterinary clinic but rather a paper health record possibly maintained by owner.  It is not "clearly evident" by this record whether the rabies vaccine that was previously given is good for 1, 2, or 3 years.  All services received by client were discussed by staff with daughter and daughter asked for and approved all services that were received.
