Alpine Computers Reviews (1)

Review: On Monday December 9th 2013, I took my iPad 3 into Alpine Computers to fix my cracked screen. [redacted] is the only person I dealt with regarding my iPad. I received my iPad back on December 10th. Upon receipt of the iPad I checked it over and thought everything was fine. I took it back home and began to see some problems. I had zero touch sensitivity on the left side (by the home button) of my iPad. I also had a lot of debris under the screen, which affected the visual performance of my iPad. I also could not move apps to the left. I contacted [redacted] and let him know that there were still problems with my iPad and he needed to repair them. He said no problem, its probably a loose connector. I scheduled to see him again on December 27th. I took the iPad in first thing around 11, when they opened. It wasnt returned to me until 2-3 in the afternoon. When I received the iPad most of the debris under the screen was gone. However, touch sensitivity on the left was still none existent. I asked him to fix it correctly and he said he would look at it again and it would be ready by 4PM. At this point my return time to home had been pushed back by 3 hours due to this issue. Upon pick up I noticed there were still touch issues. I was told, that due to the ios 7 upgrade to the Apple System that the apps are very sensitive and couldnt be moved easily to the left. HOWEVER, if I flipped my iPad over, they moved just fine. I dealt with the issue until February 5, 2014. I noticed dust under the screen and found I had to continually press down the edges of my iPad. On February 19, 2014 I could literally peel off the front face of my iPad. I contacted [redacted] with iCracked. I thought we would be dealing with just a fresh seal needed. However, I mentioned the lack of touch sensitivity to the left of the screen. He said he would look into it. Today, February 21, 2014 [redacted] informed me that upon removal of the face plate he noted that the FPC Connecter which connects the front glass to the touch display was held in place by electrical tape. He took photos and called me. He said, tape should not be there. This tape is holding what should be seamlessly connecting. [redacted] looked carefully under the tape with a magnifier and light and discovered the part is broken, hence the tape. [redacted] is taking more photos of the damage and sending them via email. My iPad is thoroughly damaged. It needs to be sent to San Francisco for FPC repair and then sent back to [redacted] for further repair. I expect full compensation as described below.Desired Settlement: Refund: $150 (for services performed by Alpine Computers), Re-repair: $170 (for services performed by iCracked technician [redacted]), Stress due to multiple failed repairs: $100, Gas to Alpine Computers and loss of iPad due to extended repairs/ re-repairs (9 days total): $150, Lying about damaging my iPad and repairs not being made because of "iOS-7 update": $100. Total: $770. Along with this, I expect an apology for deceptively covering up damage done by Alpine Computers to my iPad.

Response:

I wanted to respond as quickly as possible and sincerely apologize for the problems. I am the owner of the company and [redacted] is one of the techs who works for my company. I take full responsibility for anything that happens in my shop and I will do everything I can to make sure your iPad is back at your service as quickly as possible. I will also most definitely have a very long discussion with [redacted] as what you have been through is unacceptable.
