Seller "[redacted]" had used car for sale on roadside. Said he was single owner wanting private sale. I made deposit, discovered it was a salvaged auto.On 03/14/2014, I called the number on the sign posted on a 2005 [redacted] sitting roadside in residential yard in Northwest Mississippi. A man calling himself "[redacted]" met me at the car. I test drove the car with him. He said he bought it for his wife, but she wanted a different car. He said the low mileage on the odometer (55,000 miles) was due to him having parked it for a few years in his garage because his wife didn't want to drive it. He said the only repair was a dented driver's side door which he had fixed. I liked the car, we agreed on a price, and "[redacted]" said he would hold it, for a deposit, until I could arrange the financing. I gave him a $500 cash deposit and I requested a receipt. His receipt was a paper with "AL's Auto Sales" and West Memphis, Arkansas address at the top. It stated the deposit was not refundable if I changed my mind about the sell. I was not suspicious because the paper was wrinkled and old. I thought he must have had it sitting around the house and it made a convenient receipt. He had never said anything about being a used car salesman. I believed his story about his wife, and he being the single owner. We both signed the deposit receipt and he hastily made a cell photo of it (which I did find odd, but I was trusting him). He signed his name as "[redacted] or [redacted] it's hard to read. I then asked him about the title because the bank would want to see it for the car loan. He said he would have to get it, give him some time. I asked him if he had the title and he began stuttering and said something about a "rebuilt title". This threw up all kinds of red flags, but I told him I would call him in an hour, meanwhile I would go to the bank to arrange the car loan. The financial officer at the bank immediately said no loans could be made on a car with a rebuilt aka "branded title". He pointed out that a rebuilt title represents a car that has been totaled out and sent to a salvage yard, then restored to operation enough to sell, often with refurbished parts to do the reconstruction. The officer also said most insurance companies underwriting rules don't allow them to write policies for cars with salvage or rebuilt (branded) titles. So then I knew that this used car scammer "[redacted]" had completely lied and had misrepresented himself to be a private owner making a private sale. I then called [redacted] and told him I could not get a loan because of the bad salvage title. He said the deposit was not refundable per the receipt. He refused to be honest about what he had said about buying the car for his wife. I then realized that I didn't actually know this man's name, address or anything. He had not allowed me to visit his house while we were negotiating the sale. The car had been sitting roadside in his "brother's yard" all the while. I figured this was just a good location with a lot of traffic. It never seemed suspicious. Everything was based on good faith and trust. I pointed out to him that the receipt said deposit was not refundable "if I changed my mind", but that I HAD NOT changed my mind, but that the car he sold me was based on fraudulent information, and the vehicle was not loan worthy or insurable. I had done all I could to buy it, but it was impossible. Still, he has refused to return my deposit, now two days later. I am now considering my options. My first step was to check the Revdex.com site, and sure enough I find this "AL's Auto Sales" scam has happened to others with listings on [redacted] Cars with bad titles, no titles and stolen cars have been used in the scam. Anyone who would like to contact me to exchange information to stop these con artists may contact me at [redacted]@gmail.com.Desired SettlementThe return of my $500.00 deposit which I gave based on fraudulent information and blatant, low down, scummy lying.

Purchased a vehicle from what we thought was an individual but the title was signed off on by Al's Auto Sales. Also Odometer has been rolled back.spoke with "[redacted]" on 6/23/14 regarding a 2000[redacted] van he had listed on craigslist. He said he was selling his personal van with 132,000 miles on it. My boyfriend met with "[redacted]" and test drove the van. offered him $2200 instead of the asking price of $2800 and [redacted] agreed. then some other people pulled up to see it. [redacted] called later to explain that the other people offered him $2600 but he would let us have it if we met in the middle at $2400. we agreed to meet back up so that I could look at and drive the van. I drove it and decided it would be an ok purchase for $2400. When we returned to where "[redacted]" was waiting for us (at the [redacted] parking lot) 2 other cars full of "interested buyers" suddenly appeared trying to up the price and wanting to purchase it themselves. "[redacted]" said lets just get the title signed so we can all be on our way since these guys are making such a fuss. we handed him $2300 cash and He wanted me to sign the back of the title right then so I did. About 10 miles down the road the[redacted] light came on and the van started to overheat. we called "[redacted]" and explained what was going on and that we would like to bring it back, get our money and he could sell it to one of the other interested parties and make more money. He said he couldn't do that because we had already signed the back of the title and it would take at least 4-6 weeks to get it back. We decided to take it to our local shop to let them diagnosis the problem and that's where we discovered that the odometer had been rolled back from 250238 miles to 128238. We are now stuck with a van that is broken down and won't drive with 100000 more miles on it then we thought. I fully intend to try and get an attorney due to the odometer tampering alone. Hopefully this will get us some recourse since we don't have any money left to buy another car. and the more we think about it the more we are starting to think that the whole situation of the "other interested parties" was a complete set up to keep our attention off the small fine details and to make sure he made the sale quickly. Desired Settlementwe would like a full and complete refund of our $2300 cash back from these crooks. Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]@yahoo.comThe vehicle was purchased from [redacted] with the said millage on vehicle and we did not temper with the millage whatsoever. Customer was given full refund!!Thanks!!

sold stolen car then charged to get a dupluicate titlepurchased CAr from A INDIVIDUAL TRIED TO REGISTER IT BUT COULDNT BECause there was no where to sign so went to als to get a title because he was the original owner he charged me 150.00 to do so gave me a drive out tag and 2 months later he says he couldn't get one but kept my money well I found out that he couldn't get one because it was a stolen cAR. NOW I HAVE NO CAR AND NO MONEY TO BUY A CAR!Desired SettlementI WANT MY MONEY BACK OR ANOTHER CAR THAT IS NOT STOLEN THAT I CAN GET TAGS AND TITLE ON

Seller failed to give me the original title @ closing; said he would send it, and never did.Cannot register car without title.2009 [redacted] was purchased via ad on[redacted] but seller worked for Al's Auto Sales. Vehicle purchased in later Feb. 2014. At closing [redacted] stated he would mail me the original title but he did not. His number is disconnected as is number for Al's Auto. Seller was paid in full at closing, $10,800, by check from [redacted]. Check was deposited into his acct. at credit union. He apparently no longer has an acct. at the bank. The car can't be registered without the original title. All I want is the original title. Desired SettlementI want the original title. Business Response Contact Name and Title:[redacted]Contact Phone: 901-[redacted]Contact Email:[redacted]@yahoo.comFirst of all we do not sell cars without titles and we gave the customer the vehicle along with the title. We noted a lien on the title in order for the bank to issue the check to us. If the customer lost the title then we may be able to locate a duplicate title from the auction and issue it to the customer. It has been more than 8 months since the customer purchased the vehicle; why would he wait that long to look for a title. I will contact the customer to see if we can find out if he lost the title or what?

Mr. A** was kind and explained all I needed to know about the car. I appreciated that he worked with the money I had to make sure I get a decent car. I also appreciated him not being the usual salesman. I've been driving the car for a year no problem at all.","pos-1

bought a car under false pretenses thinking I was buying from a private seller of craigslist illegal title ring illegal transaction odometer fraud This is a fake dealer that was created to help illegal " title jumpers " commit odometer fraud.a man from Knoxville named [redacted] sold me a car with tampered odometer and incorrect title he may be behind entire operation and also be know as al himself or he is just part of the ring. He basically buys cheap cars over ten years old(this is to avoid odometer regulation laws) with high miles at auctions then rollsback the odometer and flips and sells for more on craigslist with out having to use his name on the title ,he will put als auto sale as the seller. Then when you try to get a hold of als auto sale its a number to an unprofessional voicemail. The whole thing is a scam beware he has had lots of other ad on craigslist recently- Anyone that has delt with this man please feel free to contact me to exchange info and help stop these scammer [redacted]@gmail.comDesired SettlementI want to return the unregistered illegal transaction and I want a full refund
