issue, but we will be refunding the $162.  Check will be mailed by 1/12

Thank you for your assistance Revdex.com.The Businesses response is incorrect, I never told them to ignore any alarms, that was their solution to our false tamper and false panic alarms, I wanted the problem fixed by the alarm monitoring company but when we got a third false alarm which was a burglar alarm to which there was no burglary nor any actual soundingalarm we had had enough.   I have received a check finally after numerous calls and letters and will accept the matter as closed assuming the check clears but the company was clearly at fault in not issuing the refund immediately and not fixing the false alarms problems in the first place.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the check I recieved to clear my bank and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Review: I paid for a fully operational alarm system on 06/01/2005. I have paid for the monitoring in full yearly in good faith. I have not had a complete working system since. I have 14 Windows that are on one zone which has never worked properly. We have had too many false alarms which have caused the Sheriffs Dept to respond. The Project Manager [redacted] has not done anything in good faith to rectify the problem. This job was in very poor workmanship. My detached garage was forgotten and I had to help pulling wires through a underground conduit to get a motion detector installed. My windows and door have no contacts as per contract. On 05/21/2007 we sent a letter to AltaVista Alarm requesting a fix or partial refund of $1000. [redacted] has never kept his word to us. I have also sent a letter to [redacted] who is listed on the DPOR website as the licensee for AltaVista Alarm. No response from him. [redacted] called me on 12/01/2015 and told me his father [redacted] told him about the letter he received from me. He asked me about the problem, I asked him if he read the letter I sent to his father and he said he didn't. He said no way I was going to get any money back on a system that was 10 years old. He said no court would side with me. I re informed him that one third of my system has never worked properly and that I have to by pass 14 windows every time I set the alarm. I told him to read the letter sent to his father and think about my request. He said okay and I haven't heard back from him. My intention is to sue in small claims court if no effort to re compensate me is made. I have already contracted my monitoring to another company. I have given [redacted] more than adequate time to fix the problem to no avail.Desired Settlement: I feel I should be reimbursed for one third of my system cost of $3000.00. I am looking for a settlement of $1000.00. At this time there has been no offer settle with me.

Review: After 11 1/2 years of paying for Alarm Monitoring Service we experienced 3 False Alarms in less than two years. The first a "Tamper" alarm, the second a "Panic" alarm, the third a "burglar" alarm. The company's response to the

first two false alarms (where no actual alarm sounded but we were called and had to have neighbors go check our house) was to tell the monitoring service to ignore all but Burglar and Fire alarms. The burglar alarm resulted in a Deputy

Sheriff showing up at our house at night shining a flashlight in our windows after a neighbor called and said they had gotten a call from the alarm company that our alarm was going off. We were home and no alarm sounded. The noise

and flashlight scared us pretty bad thinking we were being broken it to until we saw the Deputy.

We cancelled our service on 30 Oct 2014 having paid for 12 months and used only 3 months. After several calls Mr. [redacted] called and said "we do not deserve a refund as we did not give him a chance to resolve the problem"

I told him we gave him two chances before and we did not need to give him a reason to cancel our service. It has now been over 7 weeks and we have not received any refund. Our estimate is they owe us about $162.00 but over three weeks ago he said he would refund no more than $100 but of course we have received nothing. After many conversations with Mr. [redacted] we found other another customer who did not get any refund after cancelling the service. We are considering small claims court if this approach does not work.Desired Settlement: AltaVista Alarm stop cheating people out of their refunds when they cancel service and have paid and are due a refund. This is akin to stealing and after 11 1/2 years of paying on time we deserve better treatment. They owe us for 9 months of monitoring service as a refund of $162.00
