Altek Roofing

Contractors: [redacted] and [redacted], California State Contractor License # [redacted] PO Box 34098

San Diego, CA 92163

[redacted] and [redacted]:

From my understanding, you two are not working together with Altek and I am uncertain as to the relationship you had when I entered into the agreement with Altek Roofing on February 16, 2012. Therefore, this letter is addressed to include both of you until we resolve our differences.

After our meeting on June 13, I thought it best to put my concerns in writing. I have decided that I do not want Altek to continue work at my house and correct the deficiencies. Due to this, I will provide a cost estimate on the rear veranda for labor and materials, plus the other deficiencies. The costs are as follows:

1. Rear Closet and Bathroom: Damage caused by flooding after dry-in of roof.

Flooring in Back Closet: removal, preparation, installation, and cost of material: $1015

Drywall Repair and Painting: 2 Days @ 250/day + Materials: $680

2. Patio Decking: The amount agreed upon upstairs on the patio that did not level correctly and pools water. $600

3. Rear Veranda: I agreed to pay for materials for the structure of approximately $1000. Estimate of $4300 to build structure for labor only, plus roofing material for panels, and to attach to existing roof (not including the $1000 for the steel components). I have made the decision to not use your labor on this job as I have lost confidence.

4. Stucco Repair: The stucco is permanently discolored in five (5) areas due to the drip-edge not being installed as planned. While there is a disagreement as to who is responsible, the stucco contractor believes that he is not responsible and you are able to take this up with him. I will assume 33% of the responsibility. 66% of his fee of 2600 = $1672.

I believe the balance owed to you on the project was $3600. The total for uncompleted work is $8267. Please remit a check to my home address by June 28, 2013 for $4667. This is a formal demand for payment as outlined by the California Superior Court, Code of Civil Procedure, Section 116.210 – 116.270.

While I can understand that this is not the outcome we both had expected, I need to have all of this completed by someone other than Altek and this is the decision I have made and will follow this through. Please submit any communication in writing. Time is of the essence.Desired Settlement: Refund of money to repair poor quality work and/or damage as well as work not completed as per contract. $8267.

Review: Altek Roofing Company owner [redacted]. I signed a Metal Roofing contract with Altek on 3/ 11, 2014 with start date to be 3/31/14 and completion date of 4/12/14. I stressed the absolute importance of the agreed finish date many times before and after signing. Three installment payments for deposit, material delivery and completion. 8 men arrived 4/4/14 for tear off of old roof. 4/5/04 3 different men covered roof with paper. No work again for 10 days when partial materials dropped off. 4/16/14 was first day of work by 4 men who started at 1200 noon. Project not completed until late afternoon 4/28/14, 16 days late. [redacted] attempts to blame wind which was one day on 4/26/14 but they still worked. While on job the workers had to use all of the following owned by me: 4,000 KW generator, compressor, fittings, Stihl Gas blower, extension ladder and two other ladders, wood, approximately 30 different tools, Skill Saw and blades, my truck, lotion, medicine, food, saw horses, water, ice, drinks, gun oil, chalk, along with much more. I had to be on site!! We had a total of 14 different workers over the entire project requiring the use of our restroom. Coming in and out all day is disturbing. Altek needs a portapot not their customers inside bathroom. Despicable. Also, [redacted] sold me on them opening the ridges, (apex), for venting at signing. When it was time to make the cuts, he acted as to what????, Don't know what you are talking about. I ended up having to do the labor. When they ran out of the top quality insulation I paid for, [redacted] brought out more and personally carried it on to the roof. When I looked at it later and prior to installation, I found it to be a much cheaper, thinner, lighter and not the material I paid for. Talk about trust. Again, he played the wow, I didn't even notice card. And finally, [redacted] came to me four times asking for advances of the agreed and signed payment plan. He even tried to have me pay all the completion payment a week prior to them finishing. After fronting him cash 3 times I was not going to pay anymore until job completion. Yes, I paid the full agreed price at completion even though I lost $6,500 of income due to the delay which required me to drop my working trip along with me having to pay someone else to do a job I was going to complete. In closing, I find [redacted] owner of Altek Roofing Company to not be trustworthy, will tell you anything to get you to sign, not truthful, and an extremely deceitful individual. I just want to inform all to know what they can expect from Altek Roofing and [redacted].Desired Settlement: In light of the considerable delay, loss of income for me and the over 40 items I issued to the workers, their constant use of our septic plumbed restroom and the many different power equipment he borrowed, I believe [redacted] of Altek Roofing should of made an adjustment on final payment. Whether it be for rental of my equipment, gift card for dinner or an apology, he remained stoic and could of not cared less about all that occurred. All he cares about is money. Altek appears to be operating by robbing Peter to pay Paul. He was paid in full. Inform the public of this shady business. That is my desired outcome!
