This account was taken negative by a $item that tried to clear the account several times Because there were not sufficient funds in the account and the account remained that way, a continuous overdraft fee occurred because the account remained negative for a period greater than days We received notification that the member’s intent was to close the checking account Subsequently, our Accounting department has refunded the fees in order to bring the account positive, transferred the positive balance to savings, and closed the checking account

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I'll do as discussed and contact the Credit Bureau directly to find out what's happened since I don't see contacting the Revdex.com has done any good with the only actual evidence I have that defends my case.......... I was hoping you being 'Altra Federal Credit Union' could see there's an obvious error occurring & would admit to the fact and fix it, but obviously not, thus I'll have to go a whole separate route in order to get this issue resolved. I should have concluded the fact that reading what the Revdex.com could do for me would be little to nothing, therefore I am sorry to had wasted both of your times. However, if I am truly speaking directly to [redacted] of Altra Federal Credit Union & if you're reading this, I once again want you to know I have nothing against you. Amazing. This place has never given me a bad experience. They always treat me well, very polite and easy to contact...beautiful office and great rates.

Altra has verified that the account in question has been reported to the Credit Reporting Agencies each month since January, 2016 as a Chargeoff with a balance of $2007.  The screenshot indicates a change in balance to Total Open Balances and other Loans, however Altra has done nothing different since the chargeoff was initially reported in January 2016.  The consumer needs to discuss this with Credit Karma or the Credit Bureaus since Altra has consistently reported this each month.

We have researched the subject complaint. Altra has seen that the appropriate refund was given to the member and at last communication with the member; it is our understanding the matter is resolved as of June 15, 2017.   In summary the issued initially stemmed from a lack of communication...

between the borrower and our [redacted] between September and December of 2015.  Subsequently, it was made worse by miscommunication by the borrower’s insurance company denying she had coverage when she did, as the [redacted] attempted to verify in force insurance coverage on the collateral. In May of 2016 the member was working with the [redacted] to correct all of this.  Altra Federal Credit Union was made aware of the situation on June 13, 2017, immediately made contact with our CPI provider, had the [redacted] complete the validation process, and applied the prorated refund by the June 15, 2017 to the members account.    We have very detailed records of contacts and communication supporting the chronology outlined above. Again, it is our understanding the matter has been satisfactorily resolved.

I had some NSF charges - 2 - for $32.00 each totaling $64.00 due to a deposit arriving a day later than I expected. They did honor the outstanding checks for which I am grateful. Something similar had happened a few months ago and I was happy to know that they would refund the charge. This time though that did not happen and while I feel $32.00 is excessive I talked to a supervisor/manager about my issue and stated that I've been an excellent customer for many years and hoped that would make a difference. While I understand that this is how some businesses make a lot of extra money (thru fees and charges) it never hurts to ask. The main problem I had is the person (supervisor) I talked to was exceptionally condescending in response to my inquiry - talking down to me like I was a child asking for an extra piece of candy. This is not the kind of place I can see doing regular future business with if this is the kind of Customer Service I can expect to deal with in the future. This woman could care less about helping me and made it seem like it was an extreme imposition for me to even waste her time asking. I am most disappointed and while I usually don't file complaints I felt I had to in this instance. Thanks for listening. I don't expect anything to be done though - its the way of the world today.

Review: They charged a 32.00 fee for non sufficient funds. 32.00 is about a weeks pay for cleaning their building I know this because I'm the custodian for it. Dont have enough money dont worry altra will be sure to give you a fee for that. Im cancelling my account but I need my money back first.Desired Settlement: the money that was stolen.

Thank you for your recent correspondence and

inquiry regarding complaint ID [redacted] that was filed with your office on

6/2/2014. In this particular case, I can

confirm that Mr. [redacted] was, indeed, charged $32 for a non-sufficient funds

(NSF) item as stated in the complaint. The

non-sufficient funds fee is incurred when an attempt is made to withdraw funds

from an account where the debit request is in excess of the available

balance. The $32 NSF fee is consistent

with a schedule of our fees disclosed to Mr. [redacted] in our Service Charges brochure. While we make every attempt to work with our

members and provide numerous options to avoid this fee, there are occasions

where the fee will not be refunded due to repeated mismanagement of the account

in this respect. In this particular

case, Altra had previously refunded Mr. [redacted] this fee no less than two

times (on 5/3/2012 and 2/14/2014). Our

Contact Center Manager had also discussed the situation in great detail with Mr.

[redacted] at the time of the last refund, on 2/14/2014, in an effort to assist

him in avoiding the situation in the future.
