Good morning, in response to ID # ***In we sealcoated driveways for said customer These driveways were found to be in much neglected disrepairCustomer was told that Sealcoating will not make bad asphalt good again, but will bring back a better cosmetic blacker appearance
(Sealcoating is simply coating over the already existing asphalt) "The better the existing asphalt is.....the better the finished product will look" (Firemen sealcoating INCdoes not, and cannot take responsibility for old pavement, that is worn out, and has been not taken care of properly by ownerOwner explained to customer that she should consider total repaving from a paving Cothat specializes in replacement rather than just sealcoatingBut rather than spending the recomended more amount of money on repaving, said customer "only wanted a cheaper fix", and we quoteCustomer also requested a "deep" discount for driveways in different parts of townNormally our company ONLY gives discounts to large groups of driveways that are in a row or on the exact same blockAs a courtesy to this customer we, in good faith provided a discount...even though these driveways were not togetherOrdinarily we only discount work to the elderly, handicapped, or non profit organizations After the work was done, customer complained that drives were not sealed properly and did not look good. Customer was told that if in fact something was wrong with ALL DRIVEWAYS, we would then, and only then fix this problemOur company sealed other driveways that day for other folks, with absolutly no call backs or complaintsIn fact we recieved numerous compliments that entire week of sealcoating these numerous drivewaysThe sealcoating work was inspected by the owner after completion, as in all cases, and found to be sufficiently sound, and done in accordance with industry standardsSaid customer demanded free redos on all of these driveways for no reason other than to get more than what she paid forIn good faith, and as a gift of courtesy to this customer, our company gave a "free sealcoating" one one of these driveways....our way of giving back to the community and herOnce customer realized that there was "something to get for free", she then demanded all jobs to be redone for no chargeFiremen Sealcoating has been in business for years, and has never had issues such as this because as you know, we back up all legitimate claims and problemsIn this case , the customers attempt at "jumping on the bandwagon" holds no true cause and any more free work has been declinedThis information was sent to customer last week.........and again in good faith, we have offered her a dollar discount on each of her jobsduring the next days, if she would like any more work doneOne more add on to this notice about customers "cracking" concerns/ please talk to any contractor or supplier in the Chicagoland area, and they will confirm that all pavement can crack.........asphalt or concrete to to the ups and downs of weather in this regionThere is NEVER a guarantee against this, as it is a natural occurance in all pavementsThank you, Firemen Sealcoating Inc 630-971- Howie *** ***@aol.com
