Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details  (to Revdex.com - every time I attached pictures, my system locked up)  No pictures unless you can give me another way to get them to you.
I cannot accept this. One I did not almost cry. I
had many questions throughout the process as [redacted] mentioned - it started with
the tiles on the walls.     I took pictures prior to
grouting, at which time he said it was not necessary to use epoxy grout and he
never used it before.   I am not repeating the above complaint -
if I do, it is only to make a point.  My questions were specific to
1/2" space between some of the tiles and no space to
grout.   He has numerous emails as follow up discussions before he
was finished.  He said he never had any customer ask so many
questions and was concerned about grout.   I made the choice at this
time to stay with what he knew because epoxy is difficult to use and based on
how the tile was put on the wall, made me anxious as I stated in my first
response.   Then the way he grouted - on top of tiles to make it
appear grout lines were even.  He said this was normal.  I
called in a tile specialist - the tile specialist that looked at the
gaps and no room for grout (after grouting was done) said if he used the
proper grout and  prepped the walls correctly he did not see a problem
other than there may be tile problems where there was 1/2" or
greater and potentially where there was no room for grout.  He asked if I
knew how the walls were prepped before the thinset mortar and tiles went
up.  I said I had no reason to think [redacted] did not do it right.  At
this time I thought [redacted] put redguard on all walls.  I forgot I took
pictures to show the tile specialist - redguard as [redacted] said went in and
around niches the seams of the walls and around the tub - which my pictures
confirm.  The adhesive fiberglass mesh and its application is a big concern
which needs to be answered.  When it came to the closet shelves that could
not hold anything, the new doors in the bathroom (one warped), the tile under
the cabinet, no sealant is needed anywhere, and finally him saying I chose
floor tiles for the wall - I looked at the grout he left here - it was unsanded
not to be used for tiles greater than 12"x12".  Before he came
to fix the problem with the new doors I had a door specialist come in who
worked on my new entry doors and he stated the door was warped but salvageable
- moving the base and aligning correctly.  [redacted] came to fix the door but
moved molding and not aligned.  He did not want to hear about warping and
I did not want to argue-I had a specialist confirm and he will fix it right for
me.  As far as the closet shelves he did not hang on them - he would have
hurt himselfIf [redacted] was just focused on my projects,
he might have not taken short cuts or gave as many excuses as he did or
promised the moon.  From him being able to  do everything and then
not following through on what he said he could and would do, I may not have
asked for step-by-step instructions on the preparation and materials for the
tub/shower wall surround prior to applying thinset mortar then the tiles.
As far as doing extras - I paid for the cost of the doors in the bathroom, I
wanted to pay him for the install and staining - he said no.  The small
closet was suppose to be complete (drywall, paint) except the floor
and the ceiling.   It isn't.   I advised him of that
after my family members could not put things on the 40"x40"
inch plywood shelves with lots of cracks.  He says he put more drywall
on the bigger closet - he had left overs and said it did not look right
on the inside because you could see the compound after applying
it on the outside of the larger closet.  He used the drywall that I
purchased.   I may never had asked [redacted] about the  how the
bathroom walls were prepped prior to thinset/tiling and grouting at all until
he said I chose floor tiles and I heard a pop under the sink.  I am having
people coming in to finish what he did not do and fixing the warped door
correctly.  In terms of extras - one extra from the closets project - he put
compound on my kitchen wall in a small area because he had some left
over.   It was not a big spot, said it was easy, saw it, had extra
and applied it - done in 5 minutes.  I did not ask him to do it.  I
asked how much would it cost to fix correctly or explain the steps to me so I
could have someone help me.   It is now slowly pulling away from
the wall  (little cracking / crumbling / dust).  So where the drywall
was cracked from the door in the kitchen, it is now cracking/crumbling.
My understanding of preparing these things - sanding before applying
anything.  That will have to be fixed as well.  So in terms of doing
extras, or going above and beyond - I don't know because that is not what I
received.
He has the list of questions from me in the email, I would and am requesting that he answer
them.  As he said, he has been doing this 30 years with no problems he is
aware of.  Because of the above and what I said in my initial complaint - I
will not accept anything less than answering the questions and providing
the receipts so I know what actually was put up in the tub/shower walls was
done correctly.  Nothing less.  He said he has been doing this
for 30 years - it should take him no more than 10 minutes of his time.  I
find it interesting he will not supply this information to me.  Did he
not follow ANSI standards that might be in question.  Is he too
prideful not to provide assurance it was done properly with all the other
issues?  [redacted] will have to get over this and answer the questions.  He
brought this on himself with the things he did/didn't do, say what he could
then couldn't do.   I am left with no recourse but to ensure
he provided me with a water/vapor proof tub/shower wall.   He said he
vacuumed, not so much.  One last point - he did not cover the fixtures
while working - the tub was filthy with grout powder, sealant drippings and
chunks of whatever he put on the drywall (he did not cover the tub while
working).  The same goes for install of the commode - nothing was placed
over the new tiles/grout (no sealant yet) - dirt and stains around
it.  Cleaning the new Kohler tub took 3 times  (family members) and
finally a specialist with products to get through the dirt which I had to pay
someone to do.  So again, there is no reason why [redacted] should have a
problem with providing me with the answers.  He has been doing this for 30
years with no problems that he is aware of.

Next time - attachments of the emails.  They
are not in word format at the moment.

I didmore dry walling that was contracted because I alwaysgo the extra mile…..I went back within 7 days of complaint/request and made sure shelves would hold probably 10 times that. They are rough shelves in thebasement to hold old paint and such made from 3/4"CDX plywood and 2×4s I’ve been remodeling since 1985 in the areaand never received a complaint to the Revdex.com that I am aware of. I remodeled the bathroom witha master plumber and master electrician. There was much discussion about the techniquesand materials with the customer throughout the entire job. (More than any customer before and wasted a lot of my time….no charge ). She approved every step. When finished she almost cried it was so beautiful….and now she searches the web for fault in my work. She wanted 2 new doors and said they would be finished the same as the others and I thought “the others” were the blonde ones replaced in lower level.( Very easy to finish in that color). I stained the doors 3 times to make the color right.I often do a little extra at no charge to keep a customer very happy. I purchased, delivered, stainedand installed the doors and casing AT NO CHARGEand she complains I didn’t putty the nail holes.I will not go into the many other things I did at no charge and no change order fee and no trip charge. When I finally said no more questionsshe threatened to contact you. I told her to openthe Revdex.com letter with “I have an amazing bathroom”“He showed up ever time he said” “He vacuumedmany times a day” Many, many, many questions after I was gone came in the form of emails. Ex: She asked about seeing all receiptsfor all materials used on her job. How many coats ofredgard used, did I use 1/2" or 1/4" this or that.I ended the relationship with an email “No more questions”[redacted]Always Building Custom LLCNew Berlin WI 53146###-###-####

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Until I receive the requested information this will not be dropped.  [redacted] was well aware of my concerns before tiling to the door being warped to no tiling under the cabinet to finally the closets when my family tried to put things away and how he handled all my concerns - "he has been doing this for 30 years".    If my health wasn't as it was I would have handled differently.  He misrepresented himself  - he knew of all my concerns during the process and he never provided adequate responses and would be irritated with me after questioning him.  This is how he did not listen.   This is getting us no where.  With that said, until he provides me with all the questions/receipts I requested, I will  provide reviews of my experience with him as a general contractor, i.e.,  get everything in writing, when he asks you to lie (which I did not) about getting permits because he did not do it in a timely manner stop and get a new contractor, when he says tiles need to be under the cabinet and are not because they are discontinued and he still continues to lie until customer researches, etc.  He does not listen.  Yes I paid him and found problems after paying him.  Bottom line - He came back to fix things - with an attitude - he is right and should not be questioned.   I physically could not debate with him all the time.  Sending emails during the process was my way of documenting the communication concerns / work concerns and how he handled them.
If he responds with my requests (answer the questions and attach receipts) the matter will be over.  If he doesn't and Revdex.com does not provide an on-line complaint - which I did not believe would get this far, I will be putting reviews of my experience with him as a general contractor  where applicable.  If anything else happens that will cost money I will file another complaint for compensation and go as far as filing a lawsuit.
