A young man approached me in my drive way while I was sitting in my truck with my motor running and the A/C running. He explained his company was in the area with some recycled asphalt. They would put it down and grade my drive for $6,ooo. After some discussion I signed proposal agreeing to the price. Nowhere in the discussion was a start time given. I was thinking I would have enough time to check this company out. I had urgent business at the court house in Moore county, thinking I had enough time to check. I got more concerned as I was in route. I called a friend of mine to run a check on this operation. The results showed the addresses given were bogus. A friend called and asked me what was going on at my home and I told him nothing. What activity was happening and he said equipment was working on my driveway. I had not authorized this work to proceed with me not being present. I called the cell number on the business card and told him to stop until I could get there. I also called a friend who knows the paving business and he said the material was junk and the first hard rain it would come apart. The paving owner wanted me to to pay for the work already done. $2000. I had a meeting with a Harnett county detective this A. M. and he advised to tell the guy to file this issue in small claims court if he thought he could collect. He left not being very happy.
