Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 8, 2016/04/05) */ Company response to Mr [redacted] 's complaint Mr [redacted] 's vehicle came in as a no start condition following his attempt to repair his vehicle himself Mr [redacted] shared with me that he had used cheap parts ordered online from a discount warehouse After performing extensive testing by our ASE Master Certified Technician with more than years experience, it was found that the fuel pump control circuit in the vehicle's Powertrain Control Module (PCM) was not performing and consequently the relay controlling power to the fuel pump was not engaging The Technician performed a fuel pump integrity test and found the fuel pump Mr [redacted] had installed was either damaged during installation or defective due to cheap quality parts It's impossible to say for sure but chances are very probable the cheap fuel pump installed by Mr [redacted] damaged the PCM Because our repairs have a year or 36,mile warranty nationwide, we are unwilling to use cheap parts purchased from discount warehouses online The part Mr [redacted] is claiming to have been quoted $was for a factory part and included all tests to diagnose the condition, parts, labor, reprogramming the PCM, networking all other modules, as well as taxes The price also includes the year or 36,mile warranty on parts and labor nationwide This is month's longer than the dealer So, no the part was not quoted at $as suggested by Mr [redacted] Mr [redacted] is certainly welcome to do his own repairs using cheap online parts if he chooses It does not matter to us if he wants us to perform the repairs correctly or if he wants someone else to do them a different way Our experience has shown that it does not pay to go cheap We diagnosed the vehicle as requested for the price authorized by Mr [redacted] Mr [redacted] claims we would not let his vehicle leave the shop...The truth is, Mr [redacted] called and said he was going to have his vehicle towed and requested that we reassembled any parts that were disassembled We told him no problem that we would get that back together that day for him We requested a little bit of time to complete that before he sent the tow truck I'm sorry Mr [redacted] does not see the value of quality parts and labor and we wish him all the best of luck with his discount online warehouse parts
