AM PM Locksmith Inc Reviews (1)

Review: I have experienced shady people/companies in my life, (unfortunately they are out there). BUT I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE EXPERIENCED THIS DEGREE OF SHADY! I suppose after the shock wears off this too shall pass. So here is my story, one I will not soon forget. In my line of work I visit customers homes daily. On this particular day I locked my keys in my car along with my phone and my purse, ok not such a big deal, embarrassing but the customer was super cool and let me use her phone and found a telephone # for a locksmith. Wanting to get out of the customers hair as quickly as possible I called the locksmith and asked if they could assist me. The gentlemen who answered the phone assured me they could help me. Naturally my next question was how much was this debacle going to cost me? The man informed me there would be a $15 service charge and labor would be an additional $35-$50. I was ecstatic! I was sure he was going to say something ridiculously expensive and I would have to continue searching for a locksmith. The next words out of my mouth were THAT'S ALL?! So the most I would have to pay is $65? The gentlemen assured me that would be it and I said send them out! I called my boss told him what happened and that it would be $50-$65 total, he agreed to pay the amount and gave the tow company his credit card info. After the man came and unlocked my door he brought me an invoice for $100. I asked him why it was so much especially considering it took him 2 MINUTES TO UNLOCK MY DOOR! He replied that it was their minimum. I tried to explain that was not what I had been told but my customer was standing next to me so understandably I didn't want to argue with him in front of her. Just to be clear, $35 would have never been a big deal had my boss not been the one paying. When I told him it was $100 he felt like I had lied to him so I needed to fix the situation so he would know I was telling the truth. The next evening on Aug 8th I called AMPM and spoke with the manager, he said he would look for the recording from the call and would het back to me within 24-48 hours. But I never did receive a return phone call so I called them back to follow up on August 16th I spoke with the same man. He informed me that he had located the recorded call and asked me if I would like him to email it to me. I replied yes and gave him my email address. He then said give me a minute I will play the recording back to you now so I agreed. He then located the "recording" and began to play it back. After he confirmed it was me on the recording he said its a lengthy conversation so I am just going to skip to the part where he advises you that the fee is $85, at that moment I was in shock. He had doctored the recording. I know this because my exact words after the gentlemen told me the price were, "THAT'S ALL?! So $65 is the most I would have to pay?! Send him out!" I was ecstatic during that initial conversation and the recording he had just played back to me had me saying "oh, okay," after he told me the price AND THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED!! I then demanded that he send me the recording so that I could review it. Not that I am surprised but that has not happened. I want to be clear that this is not about being charged an extra $35 because honestly if they would have said $150 to begin with I still would have told them to come. This is about the principle of the matter. Altering a recording over a $35 difference is pretty low, I just wonder what else they get away.. Luckily all of the phone calls I have had with AMPM have also been recorded on my end since I have called them from my office. Unfortunately the first call was made from the customers cell phone so it was not recorded.Desired Settlement: I want the additional $35 refunded back to the credit card and the recording of the phone call so that I may show my boss that I am telling the truth. Altering the recording could have left me without a job because it makes me look dishonest, and I do not want this to happen to other people. I am lucky that I am an asset to my company therefore I will not be let go of for a difference of $35, but other people may not be so lucky...

Response:

As a business owner, I take a

lot of pride of being upfront & honest about pricing when asked for a quote

over the phone by my customers. Being

honest and providing an estimate over the phone as well as having the technician verify

the price and having the customer sign an invoice prior

to providing any services, is the reason we have been San Diego's most trusted locksmith for

over two years.

When Mrs [redacted] called in to complain about the final price

charged, we attempted to explain to her that the price quoted was within the

range quoted over the phone and that our technician did his work according to

our policies. We offered to the customer to listen to the call and we played

the recording for her, which stated exactly what she was quoted. Instead

of taking accountability for giving the wrong estimate to her boss, she

immediately assumed and accused us of tampering with the

recording. We told her that we have no problem emailing it to her as well, if

she needed it to confirm with her boss the estimate given, and

apologize to him that she must have misunderstood the quote that was given. The quote given

to Mrs. [redacted] was $15.00 for the technician to come out and $35-85 to unlock

her vehicle door. Apparently, she informed her boss it was going to be

$65.00. Mrs. [redacted] did not want her boss to feel as though she lied to

her boss about the price. If this was her concern, all she had to do was play

the recording we sent to her along with a copy of the invoice the technician

gave her which both depicted what transpired.

Instead of accepting accountability for her actions, she

placed the blame on our company instead. We told her we would send her

the recording and to call us if she had any other questions or disputes. I

believe once she heard the recording she realized she was the

one who made the mistake and never called us back, as she

said she would. This was two weeks ago. The sad part about all of this is one

of Mrs [redacted] would rather bad mouth our

company and post untrue statements on

various online websites, then confront her boss and explain to him she made a mistake. The

fact is that she was quoted accurately , we took care of her when she was

stranded at her customers house, we should up to the location less than 30

minutes from the time she called since it was so hot outside and we prioritized

her call and got the door open to her with no damages and in a fast

professional manner.

Resolution:

We have sent the full recording of the call to the customer which

we also attached to this response prior to this complaint even

being submitted to the Revdex.com by Mrs [redacted]. The technician did charge her

the correct amount based on the quote received by our dispatcher therefore we

will not refund the customer. We hope that like stated in her desired

settlement she does the right thing by telling her boss what really transpired

and that she acknowledges her mistake and correct the false statement made on

other online business review sites.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Regards,

I am in awe at the response from AM/PM. I remember very clearly what was said after I was told the amount would be 35-50 for labor, my exact response was, "So the most I would have to pay is $65! Send them out!" That is not what was said on the recording played back to me. He also stated in the response that the customer is always made aware of the price before the card is charged and in this case I was not made aware until after the $100 charge was completed. Also he said 30-45 min wait time and it was more like an hour and a half! I also want to add that I called the very next evening and asked for the recording and was told it would be sent to me. After two weeks with no response I called back to inquire about the recording and that is when the man on the phone played it back to me. I was immediately in shock by what I heard. Also I would like to add that I was NEVER in jeopardy of loosing my job. I just wanted to point this situation out because some people may not be so lucky. I wish Am/Pm the best of luck with their business and I absolutely will not remove my review from [redacted]. God Bless.

Response:

Dear

[redacted],

We

have made every attempt to make this right by responding to your request of

receiving a copy of the entire recorded call, even though we didn t have to. It

was sent to you out of good faith and in an attempt to show that we did what we

told you over the phone. After realizing what was actually said, the

customer went on to say we altered the call. In regards to charges, its only

after the car was opened and after the customer signed on the invoice, that we

called her boss for payment. In regards to the recording, it was received by

you 48 hours after we spoke, and WAS NOT ALTERED NOR CHANGED FROM ITS ORIGINAL

STATE. Our resolution has not changed.
