AMA Architect

Review: Dear Business Bureau,It is with a heavy heart that I must report my architect [redacted] for failure to provide service. Since June 2012, [redacted] has been paid over $4500 but has not developed a complete drawing of my house as of 8-**-2014. [redacted] has clearly taken advantage of my friendship. He has not followed up on my instructions and in 2013 provided drawings from existing plans he has in his office or a magazine with total disregard to what we agreed upon or to cost limitation. The drawings also lacked specific measurements to render them as complete drawings. The work I requested wasnt all that complicated. I had 3 contractors take a look at the plans and all 3 contractors told me drawings are incomplete. [redacted] provided these drawings in June 2013 as I mentioned above; this is a year after he was initially commissioned to do the job and was paid over $4500 between June and August 2013. I continued to follow up with the architect to no avail. In July 2014, I simplified the drawings to [redacted] and told him to just provide a mud room, show a roof overhang of 1 foot, eyebrows on the 2 front windows, steps in the kitchen back door, and keep the middle dormer in the back for a full bath. [redacted] started the same stories and excuses all over again! I sympathize with [redacted] personal problems, but we all do and I have certainly had more than my share. I still have to do my job and [redacted] has to do the same. The excuses have gone long enough. My roof is ready to fall over my head, my neighbors are complaining and I am about to get cited for a violation by the town because of the deliberated shape and look of the roof on my house.I gave Architect [redacted] an ultimatum until Friday, August **. Still, I havent heard a beep from him.At this point I must commission a different architect to start fresh and finish the job as a qualified architect should. I am convinced [redacted] is unqualified to finish the job. I no longer wish to deal with this architect and I need my full refund of $4500.Attached is a copy of my initial as well as my last email to [redacted]. There are many more follow up emails pleading for him to finish the job. I am happy to provide anything else you need. Thank you.
