Review: On March 13, 2014 I called Amanda Maier to ask for interior design advice. She said her initial consultation was $200 and if we worked together that would be rolled into the next meeting. She met me at the model of the home I am purchasing for one hour on Monday, March 17, 2014. I showed her a couple of my ideas, but she did not provide any real input. When I said I didn't feel like we had gotten anything done she said that at least she had seen the place. Then she told me she would make up a budget and send it to me in preparation for our next meeting. She told me she would give me several different price points and the services she would provide at those price points as well. I never heard from her after that initial visit, even after I contacted her via email on March 27th and request the budget since I was meeting with the builder on March 29th. On March 30, 2014 I emailed her and requested a refund since she did not send me a budget or respond to my request for help. In other words, her lack of responsiveness precluded me rolling the initial $200 fee into a future meeting. I did not hear from her so I sent another email on April 6th to give her another opportunity to respond. I told her I thought it was unethical to accept payment without rendering services. On April 8th she responded, basically saying she did not understand why I wanted a refund and denied that the $200 was going to be rolled into a future meeting. Then she said it would be credited if we ended up working together. I did attempt to work with her but she did not respond. Therefore I think the only fair thing is for her to refund my money. I told her in my April 12, 2014 email response that if I did not receive a refund of $150 from her in a week I would contact the Revdex.com. I have given her the benefit of the doubt by waiting two weeks and she has not responded or sent me a refund.Desired Settlement: I think she should refund me $200, though since she did make the trip out I had been willing to settle for a $150 refund. I suppose I said that because I feel sorry for her. But ethically she should refund me the full $200.
