Amber Manor Apartments billed us for an apartment painting fee and carpet cleaning fee when we moved out of (3/29/17) our two bedroom unit after more than two years at [redacted] in DeKalb, IL These fees are in addition to them not returning the security deposit and I have not been provided any evidence that the paining and cleaning were needed In addition, the lease does not mention anything about tenants being responsible for a repainting fee or carpet shampoo fee We used the property in a reasonable way, kept it clean, and did not paint any walls I believe these fees are unjust and an attempt to harass us Amber Manor Apartments has tried to retaliate against us making a complaint about a bathroom window breaking and nearly falling into the tub while my year old was showering and the maintenance team leaving muddy footprints on the floor and tub when it was repaired (approximately 1/15/17) A few days after my complaint, my car was towed from the lot even tho

I paid my rent in full on 3/27/and was served a day notice on 4/2/

I want out of my leaseI hate living in this ghetto building that is never cleanedI'm embarrassed to have company over because you don't know what to expect from the neighbors bad kids or the thugs that hang out in the building on the stair wells
This is a terrible and unsafe place to liveNot only do my neighbors keeps traffic in and out, but the doors are never locked creating an unsafe environment for me
Last Sunday night I came home and there was a young man just standing outside my doorI sat in the car for a while watching him and finally before taking anything out of the car I went to the door and asked was he waiting on any one
he said noI asked him did he live in the building he said noI asked him why was he just standing outside my door and what was his nameHe stalled answering and then I asked how old he was and he said He then walked out and went to the building on the far end and just opened the door and went inNo key neededTalk about safetyThis is the same night all the lights were out in the stair well
Maintenance don't complete requestI called about the strip between the kitchen and living room and maintenance came days later tracked dirt and it's still not fixed Not to mention the neighbors dogs still pops in front of my window

In February, I came into Amber Manor and viewed apartments with ***We looked at both the one and two bedroom unitsWhen I told *** that I would need the apartment by the last week in March, she assured me she had a two bedroom unit available at that timeShe told me to fill out the applications and then she would call me to set up a time to fill out the paperworkSo I fill out the applications for myself and my boyfriend, and I pay the $application fee ($a person)I waited and did not receive any calls for a few days, and I had also reached out to *** via *** as she had suggested I doShe finally calls me, and we set up a time for me to come in and fill out the paperworkWhen I get to Amber Manor to fill out the paperwork for the two bedroom, she tells me that she does not have a two bedroom available until MayI told her that she had told me something differentI also asked if I could have my application fee refunded or if I could get a discount on a one bedro

I moved out of Amber Manor Apartment's on October 31st of 2017.I was sent a letter stating I owed $1,346.86.I was told by someone who works in the office at Amber Manor on the phone that I didn't owe the money that there was a mistake on my accountNow January 1st of I received a call from the collection agency stating I owe the money to Amber Manor apartment's.I called Amber Manor apartments and was told that they have new people working in the office,and they can't look up my informationI feel the person I'm talking to is lying.I do not owe this money
