Review: I owned an apartment in the Amberson Tower Condominiums and lived there from Aug, 2010 to March, 2013, when a big fire accident happened in the building, and we had to move out of our apartment from March 21, 2013 till we sold the apartment in June 2014. The unit remains unlivable throughout this whole period. Our monthly maintenance fee was $571+55(parking) at that time.
After we moved out of the unit in March, we continued to pay the condo fee above for another three months till 6/30/2013. Then the owners received emails from the condo association management team which told us the monthly fees when the unit is not livable will be covered by the Condominiums's insurance policy (not individual owner's own insurance policy). We stopped paying the condo fees after receiving the emails. And for the extra three months payment we paid for, we are promised to get the refund for these payments later.
In June 2014, when the unit was repaired completely, we sold the unit. But the refund was not given to us. The explanation is that the insurance company is still reviewing the payment for the whole damage, and we need to wait. We've been reaching out to the Amberson Condo Association management and treasurer since then, and trying to get refund of our extra condo fees for this period, but have not been successful. The management and treasurer ignore our email and delay responding to us every time. So far we haven't been able to collect our refund.Desired Settlement: We want to get three months condo fees that are supposed to be covered by the insurance company refunded.
