AMC Hoffman 22 Theaters Reviews (2)

Review: On August 9, 2014, My Husband, my sister & I along with our children(10) attended the 11:15am Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie at the Hoffman Theatre in Alexandria, VA. While in the theater my daughter informed me that she had to use the restroom as I was passing my husband our youngest daughter so that I can take my 4y/o to the restroom my sister and I was approached by a manager (Alex M[redacted]) telling us that our children were unruly & that we needed to step out the theater. We complained before actually stepping into the lobby area. While complaining to the manager he took it upon himself to grab my 1y/o niece by her arm while trying to escort us out the theater. My sister then became really upset. We then moved into the lobby. We attempted to continue the discussing the issue at hand with the manager in the lobby area but at this point he said he was no longer going to discuss anything with us & we need to leave the theater or he was going to call the police. I told him I was not going to leave because my children were still in the theater. I went back I the theater to get my children when I came back out. I approached the manager and ask for a refund he told me no I wasn't getting anything. I then asked for another manager, he told me no. I asked another employee to contact another manager for me Alex told the employee not to. I went to customer service & asked for a refund. The officer that I spoke to told me that it would be best for me to file a civil suit. Alex told her not to, but he did say that he would issue us guest passes. I told him that I didn't want a guest pass I wanted a full refund because I will no longer be patronizing AMC Theaters. He told me no.Desired Settlement: We would like a full monetary refund for our ticket purchases(12) & on our AMC stubs renewal in which was paid on August 9, 2014.

September 5, 2014Dear Ms, Freeman:Response-On 08/09/14 there-was a call about kids making noise in auditorium 7, so we investigated. We entered theatre and noticed that 2 children not in their seats were making noise, so we approached a woman that was with them and; asked her to please take the children outside until they calmed down. We were told that they were calm and that she wasn't leaving, and at that moment one of the children that was not in their seat leaned backwards and let out a cry. We let her know that we had been standing behind her for a couple minutes and watched the kids make noise and be rowdy, and requested that the children leave auditorium until they were calm. Another woman in the group chimed in and again said that the kids were calm, so all were asked to come outside so that we didn't disturb the other guests in the theatre. We wanted the kids to calm down because we had gotten several guest concerns about it, which is what said to the two ladies, which is when one of them starts to cuss at our theatre associate. At that time, the decision was made that they had to leave the building because they were causing a disruption in the theatre. After being given this information, both women cussed at the theatre associate.Once told them to leave, one of the ladies went to guest services and the other to the bathroom with one of the children. The iady at guest services was told that for violating our Code of Conduct in conjunction with causing a disruption in the theatre and being uncooperative that she would not be getting her money back, and if she did not leave soon the police would be called- She then told to go ahead and call, so the police was called. While waiting for the officer, the man in their party came out to discuss. We explained to him what happened, and he understood. There were 8 children in the group, passes were given to male guest and the children to come back, but the two women were not given passes or a refund because of their behavior. The entire party came out and went to guest services as the officer was arriving. Our associate did not make physical contact with a child. We made 2 attempts to contact guest to discuss after a report was made.Resolution —An email was sent to guest requesting the AMC Stubs number so we can process a refund of the renewal fee. Due to code of contact violations, we will not be refunding the ticket for this guest.Sincerely,Linda G.Senior Coordinator; Guest Services

Review: This morning My family The Hoffman Theater in [redacted], Virginia to go see the TMNT Moving for My God Daughter's Birthday. In total there were 10 Children and 3 Adults. 1 of the children is my 1 year old Daughter. At one point she became agitated and started to cry. I calmed her & continued to watch the movie. Later she did it again. My God Child had to use the restroom, so I said I'll take her & my child can run or whatever to calm down. As I’m getting up this man Approaches us, stating that We all have to leave because I cannot control my Unruly Child as he grabs her arm to come out the seat. I don’t appreciate nor do I think its professional grabbing someone’s child. Nor do I feel it was appropriate to dismiss us with no refund because A BABY Cried. There were Plenty of children/babies in that theater talking and crying so I'm not understanding why We were singled out. It was a morning Movie, the time of day you take children to go see a children's movie. He called the Police & caused a scene because I would not just leave. All I wanted was an apology and a refund for the Tickets and food. Alex M[redacted] is very Unprofessional and I don’t see how he's a Manager. The whole situation was uncalled for and embarrassing! In turn we had to deal with 8 Children Upset that they could not finish watching the movie and couldn't finish their Movie snacks. The Hoffman is one of my few "Go To" theaters, but after this situation I'm not sure. 'Desired Settlement: Ideally I would like a refund for the money spent because we did not get to enjoy our time there or finish what we purchased to eat. Also, I believe Mr. M[redacted] Needs to be re trained if he's going to stay a Manager because his way of handling situations are very uncalled for nor are they professional especially if he cannot deal with children at a Matinee. Calling a One year old "Unruly" was completely out of line and disrespectful.
