installed new plumbing for our bathroom. He charged us 70% of the total cost of the job after leaving on the first day as a deposit. While he was working, he shut off our water but failed to shut off our tankless hot water heater. Upon partial completion of the work, he left and we quickly found that our hot water wasn't working. His response was: "it can be your water tank that is not connected or turn on its gas because only the water I touched a valve". We spoke briefly after texting and he essentially said it was broken and not his doing.

We called the plumber (***) that installed our hot water heater. They weren't able to come until Monday (the incident was on Thursday). We learned that his work was not done to code, he left things uncapped allowing gases in to our home, used pipes and materials that were not up to code, and that the reason the hot water wasn't working was he didn't shut the tank and it essentially overheated burning a hold in the line.

When *** heard we had other plumbers at our home, he said he'd come and fix it, but it was too late because they were here and the work was done. We were without hot water for 6 days. He should have come right back on Thursday to fix the problem. It was too coincidental that it just happened to stop working after he left.

The costs to fix the hot water heater and fix the things he didn't do to code, as well as make our home safe, was $610. He said he would pay us back. That was 7 weeks ago. He told my husband to stop texting him and that he doesn't have the money. Money he owes us for work he didn't complete as well as mistakes he made that we were stuck fixing and paying for.
