I am going to submit my response at [redacted] ** [redacted] **I met with the owner and he told me to give him an estimate on a 10xdeckI gave him a written proposal and a priceHe asked many questions about the deck and I told him how I would build itThe only request he had at the time was he wanted the post on the outside of the deck instead of on the insideAfter, he told me I had the jobApproximately months later when I went to sign the contract he had the scale drawing for me to take to the inspector and the way he wanted it built had totally changed, which meant more cost in materials and laborI went ahead and took the job with hesitationHe was on the job the entire time and would continuously change or add little things, but I did as he requestedHe was going by the building codes in [redacted] rather than [redacted] I did learn something from thisI thought the code was the same for the entire state, but after talking to the inspector in [redacted] I found out it is notThe requirements I had to do for him I have not had to do in [redacted] and surrounding areasSome things I have never had to do, like the rim joist, which me special and aren't even stocked in surrounding areasI had the entire work inspected and was only turned down for a side handrail, which I have never been turned down beforeI used a 2xfor a handrail, but I learned that I like the little side handrail and I will figure that into my work for future decksThe inspector told me that it is for children and handicapped peopleHe got a custom built deck, and I will never build another one like that in future because it is not as attractive as the ones I have built in the pastMy beef is he should have been a real man and gave me a drawing of what he wanted in the beginning and then we wouldn't have had any issues about what he wantedFurthermore, he went to [redacted] on vacation and I did not do any work without him being thereAnd as far as the handrail being on the wrong side, my worker told me he spoke with him and told him where to put it.Thank you, [redacted]

After, he told me I had the job. Approximately 6 months later when I went to sign the contract he had the scale drawing for me to take to the inspector and the way he wanted it built had totally changed, which meant more cost in materials and labor. I went ahead and took the job with hesitation. He was on the job the entire time and would continuously change or add little things, but I did as he requested.
