Beware AMCO (Nationwide) billing policies. If you do not file a formal cancellation notice with them rather than writing cancel on such and such date and signing the bill they will try to back charge you for their internal mix up. This formal notice must be requested from AMCO and is mailed well after you have both sent the cancelled bill and called them via phone to notify them of the cancellation. If you subsequently call them again after receiving a second bill to cover the interim and tell them to check the bill that they originally sent you they will say they don't have it and threaten to turn you over to a collection agency.
We picked up insurance from a different company that went into effect on the same day that AMCO's ran out. This concerns both auto and homeowners insurance so the uninsured vehicle laws have no meaning here.
Is it simply an unreasonable policy to cover up their internal foul up -or- an attempt to extract unwarranted payments?
