We rented for a week at Ocean place which is beach front and about 100 yards from a private beach with access to the Ritz. We were coming from Arizona and had airfare and rental car already set up. We were told on Saturday, our flight was on Monday, that they pulled our rental unit.
They only offered us a replacement. The replacement was about half a mile from the from a public beach for the SAME PRICE. They never even offered a price reduction. When I called I got a secretary who basically said "if I were in your position, I'd be really mad to, I am so sorry for your situation but there is nothing I can do." I requested to speak to the owner. I was told that they couldn't be contacted. I left my number for the owner to call me to explain the situation but never got a call. They told me they knew since march that the building was under construction. They continued to keep our reservation until less than 48 hours so we had no other options available to us. We booked these months in advance our flight and rentals couldn't be canceled. If they told us this would not be available or there was a possibility it would not be available that would have been completely reasonable. I could have found somewhere else but unfortunately because they tied my hands they were trying to profit off of a much inferior unit for the same price.
Also there does not appear to be a way to leave a google or facebook review. I found reviews on YELP which were all very similar to what I experienced,
In August of we rented a home at Fernandina Beach through Amelia Island Vacation Rentals online at www.ameliaislandvacations.com to serve as HQ for a family reunion in June of On January 27, 2017, they called to tell us that the property had been sold and the reservation had been cancelled by the new ownerThe reservation confirmation we received from Amelia Island Vacation Rentals said nothing about the possibility of non-availability of the property or the right of the owner to cancel the rental agreementNeither did they say anything about the property being for saleConsequently, countless hours spent researching suitable properties had been wasted, our plans have been shattered, and we are starting over again
