Had Amerex do my windows at my house ...wow...what great work! The installer was amazing! They are competitive on pricing and have quality windows. Very impressed. They will also get my siding job in the future. Charlie was great... don't be scared to do business with this company.Very happy!

Review: In July or Aug 2013, Amerex installed 2 sets of exterior and screen doors for us, all was well with the doors until Fall/Winter set in, well here is the problem we are having with Amerex, they have been here to look at new doors, and KEEP Blaming our problem with these new doors on TOO much moisture/condensation in our home, we knew we had moisture in our home well before Amerex ever came to home, that's why we need to get the doors in the first place. The problem we are having with Amerex is: they don't live here in our home and don't feel the air that is coming in from the new doors they installed. The air is coming through the screen door, then coming around exterior door on the sides and at the bottom of the new doors. Amerex has come to LOOK at the new doors about two times, 1st visit: they stated NO Problem, 2nd visit (we were informed by [redacted]/owner) that we would be charged $65.00 for service call, and STILL NO results from Amerex on fixing this problem we have with the new doors. Each time someone is sent here to our home from Amerex, they state "there is no problem with doors, you have too much moisture/condensation in your home". Well, here we go again, this is why we paid $6,240.00 to have someone come here to tell us about the moisture/condensation in our home. The problem with the doors NEVER gets fixed because Amerex wants to pass off fixing our doors, by blaming the problem on Moisture/Condensation. Well, this company is trying to slip me and my husband under the new doors they just installed in July/Aug 2013. Their reasons for the new doors having so much moisure/condensationand Amerex not fixing the problem is getting VERY stale and it is becoming fustrating to get them to fix this problem, seems like they want to forget customers after they have paid their bills! We have contacted [redacted] about the air coming through our new doors, they said that there shoud be NO air what-so-ever coming through the new doors, and that you have to have air coming in to cause Moisture/Condensation in the first place. They are going to contact the Eastern Region rep for [redacted] to see what the problem is with our doors.Desired Settlement: All we have ever wanted from Amerex is to fix the air problem that we are still have after purchasing new [redacted] doors, and having Amerex install them. Amerex has knowledge of this problem, their salesman ([redacted]) told us when we signed contract "We will not have ANY air coming in our home after the doors are installed", well what a lying statement that was, as of today's date 12/11/13 we still have air coming in from screen door, then coming in around sides/bottom of the exterior doors into in our home.

Subject: Fwd: On 12/11/13-I sent a complaint about Amerex to Revdex.com, Amerex and [redacted] have contacted us, but they want to do a "House Audit" on our doors, they told my husband if they find nothing wrong with the doors, we have to pay $250.00, if there is something wrong they pay the bill, my question is why should we have to pay anything when we have been complaing tho Amerex all along about the doors? Do we have to pay for this House Audit, when we have been telling Amerex all along that air was coming through our new doors.

Response:

In August, 2013, AMEREX installed two sets of doors for **.

& [redacted]. [redacted]. Each set consisted of a

[redacted] entry door and storm door. Two

weeks after the installation, they contacted us stating that cold air was coming in

around one of the doors. Over the course

of the next few weeks, we had 3 people (all with 25+ years’ experience in the

door business) go to their home on 4 separate occasions and try to find a

problem. They found no issues with the

door or installation. If there is air

coming in somewhere, we are confident it is not around the door. **. [redacted] even stated on the phone that “I

don’t feel cold air coming in, but my wife does”. As for the comment about moisture/condensation,

no door or window manufacturer will warranty their product against interior

moisture/condensation.

Moisture/condensation is a function of the inside temperature and

humidity versus that on the exterior. I provided

information from the internet that explains why this happens and how to prevent

it. It has nothing to do with the door

or installation.

The reason we recommended a Home Audit is because it will

show any area of the house that is leaking air, including the doors. It is conducted by an independent third

party, and the cost is $250. If the test

shows that the doors are leaking air, we will pay for the audit, remove the doors,

replace them if necessary, reinstall the doors, and give the customer $500 for

their trouble. If the audit shows no

problem with the doors, as we suspect it will, then the customer will be

responsible for the cost of the audit and they will remove this complaint.

We at AMEREX go to great lengths to make sure our customers

are satisfied, as our record with the Revdex.com shows. We are not perfect and occasionally make

mistakes, but when they occur, we do our best to fix them, and we always stand

behind our work. If we had found

anything wrong with the doors or installation, we absolutely would have fixed

it!

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Here are some of the items that my wife and I do not agree with from AMERAX’S response to our complaint. Our first contact with AMEREX, was around June 2013 when we contacted the company to get an estimate for two storm doors and two entry doors. We needed to replace our front and kitchen doors. When talking with [redacted]. (sales person) about the amount of air that we felt from our old doors, [redacted]’s response to my wife and I was “You will not feel any air coming through the new doors once they are installed”.

The next time we heard from the company was on or about July 2013, [redacted]., informed us that we were approved for financing. A couple days went by when [redacted] and [redacted] stopped by our home to drop off some paperwork and double check the measurements for both doors (Kitchen and Front). The next contact was on or about the last part of July 2013, this is when [redacted] let us know that our doors will be ready in about 6-8 weeks, and he’ll call when the doors are in and ready to be installed. The next contact was that [redacted] or [redacted] called to let us know the doors were in and to set up a day to come to install the doors. The work began on Wednesday, 31 July 2013 and was completed on Friday, 01 Aug.2013. [redacted] (A sub-contractor), was hired by AMEREX to install the new doors for us. [redacted] installed the front door first and then finished installing the kitchen door on Friday Aug 2, 2013. Upon completion of the job, my wife and I were happy with the newly installed doors.

This is where the problems began, approximately two-three weeks after completion of the job, my wife and I noticed when we would step on the threshold of the kitchen door, it would bow down and spring back, and that is when we called AMEREX to explain the problem and to schedule an appointment for them to come to our home to take care of this problem. A couple days later, [redacted] (The Service Tech.) came out to look at the threshold of the kitchen door, found the problem and fixed it, and he even went as far to check the front door threshold, it was fine. This visit, there was no fee for service. (Installation warranty)

We had no further problems with the door all through September, then in the middle of October when winter set in we noticed some moisture/condensation on all four doors. The first time I called AMERERX about the moisture/condensation problem was on or about 13 Oct 2013 @ 0900 Hrs. I cannot remember who I talked with; I explained that we had moisture/condensation on the bottom of the glass on the interior door and on the hinges of the door. I also tried to explain that we are getting moisture/condensation on the inside of the storm door. The Rep. I was talking to replied “that the moisture/condensation was normal”. I tried to get [redacted] or/[redacted] to come out to look at the problem, so they can see what my wife and I are talking about. A couple days went by, I received a call from [redacted]., and he asked me what the problem was? I explained to him what I told the other person I talked to last week about the problem we were having with our new doors. [redacted] replied, “My windows get moisture on them”. Again, I asked [redacted] or [redacted] to come out to our home, to see and feel what my wife and I go through every night when it gets cold with the new doors. He said there is no reason for them to come out. [redacted], from AMEREX called, he stated to me “I hear you have air coming through your doors, I then explained what the problem was that we are having with the doors and I also informed him of the moisture/condensation that we were getting with the new doors.

We talked about the problems and he gave me the same old broken record speech, just like his employees have been saying and trying to brain-wash us with “You have a lot of moisture in your home”, every time these (service guys) came to LOOK at the doors, they basically all said the SAME, it was like a broken record after a while of listening to these people. This has been repeated ever since we reported the problems we were having and still have with the new doors. The next statement that was quoted by [redacted] from his message to Revdex.com, was that my husband said “I don’t feel cold air coming in, but my wife does” this is totally wrong, what was REALLY stated, was: my husband said “I don’t feel the air like my wife does.” This is here-nor-there, the problem with the new doors is still here, and as of today’s date 12-18-13 AMEREX nor [redacted] has done anything to change our situation with these doors. AMEREX has recommended a Home Audit, but they failed to mention whether it is for the doors ONLY or a whole house audit! AMEREX made sure to make my husband aware of the price of the Home Audit, and that if they did not find anything wrong with these doors, we would have to pay for Home Audit. They did tell my husband that if, they found fault with the doors, they would fix or replace. When the service technician showed up on the last visit to our home, the first thing he looked at was the moisture we had on our windows in the kitchen (we have to put plastic on them as they are loosening the argon gas in them, or some other ornate gas), then he looked at the kitchen door and he could not find anything wrong. Before he left we talked about the door and he said the problem is the amount of moisture we have in our home, then he handed us a [redacted] ($65 service fee.) The next contact was from [redacted] from AMEREX, we talked about our situation with the doors. I let [redacted] know my feelings about the air coming through both sets of doors. As we continued about the doors, [redacted] brought up the home audit test. [redacted] explained how this test was done and the cost for this service, which is $250 dollars. After hearing this I let [redacted] know that I would have to talk to my wife about this, because we try to make these decisions together.

The items that my wife and I disagree with AMEREX’s statement are as follows: The first item, the threshold on the kitchen door: not because air was coming through the door. Besides, the doors were installed in August (IT WAS HOT WEATHER). The second item is we did not notice we had a problem with the doors until the weather got colder in late Sept/early Oct. Third: We did not have three people come out on four separate issues. In fact, we only had a total of two people come out to our home, from the time the doors were installed to present date (Installer of the doors [redacted] {2}, Service Tech. [redacted] {2}). The problems with our doors all started when the weather turned colder and that is when the moisture/condensation and the feeling of air coming through the door’s was felt and seen by us. I do not completely agree with the statement, “moisture/condensation is due to humidity and temperature inside versus the outside”. We believe to have moisture/condensation, you have to have some kind of air flow coming into our home. Both my wife and I totally disagree with AMEREX charging us (the customer) a service fee or even asking us to pay for a Home Audit when we have paid AMEREX in full and that these new doors are still under warranty. “YOU GO FIGURE” what is Amerex trying to do in this situation we have with these doors? They are definitely not being repaired/fixed.

My wife and I spent over $6000.00 for new doors that do not do their job. If you like, [redacted], [redacted] or [redacted] ([redacted]) please come to our home and see what we both go through every day and evening, just to keep the air out and to stay warm.

[redacted] (salesman) was WELL aware of the moisture problems we were having with our old doors, he saw firsthand all the problems and tape we had to put on these doors when he sold the [redacted] doors to us in Aug 2013. We are getting tired of wasting money on purchasing tape to keep the air out on BRAND NEW doors. [redacted] do you feel like you made a good statement to US and a good deal, well we don’t. This is what you stated to us when we purchased the doors “YOU WON’T FEEL ANY AIR AFTER THE NEW DOORS ARE INSTALLED”. AMEREX take responsibility for what your employees are SAYING and DOING to your customers. We want the doors FIXED or REPLACED!
