I received a letter from Amergy Solar, located at ***, about purchasing solar panels. I gave them a call soon after to find out more about solar panels their costs. They told me the installment of the solar panels were approved by the federal government as an incentive to get people to switch to green energy source. They told me this was a federal government and city plan and that I will receive money. They asked if they could come to my home to better explain how the purchase of the solar panels works, and I agreed.

Amergy Solar representative, Carlos G, came to my house and chose a plan for me. Carlos told me that I no longer had to pay *** for energy, only pay them for the rights to use their counter. The plan that Carlos chose for me was to install 4.270 kW (14 modules of C305W Solar panels + 1 inverter) with an estimated production of 4,3988 kWh for $25,064.90. This included making monthly payments to Amergy Solar of $61.60 for 18 months. Carlos said I will begin paying $131.82 for 258 months, which I did not understand. He said the $131.82 for 258 months was going to be substituting the payment that I was currently making to *** of $143. Carlos said that instead of paying the $143 to ***, that I will be using that money to make monthly payments for using my panels and work towards paying them off, meaning that after I pay them off, I will only have to pay *** for the right to use their counter. He did all the mathematical calculations about all the incentives I would receive, including an amount of $5,012.98 for NYC Tax abatement, NY Serda Credit of $1,195.60, State Tax Credit of $5,000.00, and ITC 30% of $7,519.47. Carlos told me that the sum of the amounts previously stated, $18,728.05, would go towards the cost of the purchase of the solar panels to lower the cost from $25,064.90 to $6,336.85. Carlos said that after I finished paying the remaining amount of $6,336.85, that the solar panels will be

What Carlos explained is correct. When you file your taxes you need to claim the 30% federal credit and 25% state tax credit, capped at $5,000. We are not accountants and cannot detail how the credits work in your personal tax situation but you are entitled to the amounts. If the full tax credit cannot be applied the first year, the remaining balance does carry over to the next tax year.

The paperwork has been filed for your property tax abatement, I have attached a copy. After the Department of building fully processes the close out of your project they will apply the property tax reduction accordingly.

Access to the monitoring portal has been shared with you. You are able to see the production of your system through that link.

Your system has only been on since January and we have shorter days in the winter. You will start to notice more production as the days get longer. I have also attached a snap shot of the monitoring portal showing your system producing.

Since being installed over a year ago we have had nothing but problems with this service. Between the guys that came out and the 2 customer service reps we have dealt with, this has been a nightmare. We'd have guys at our home numerous times in the beginning installing it only to leave almost every time without giving us updates as to whats's being done or how much longer we could expect it to be finished. After being installed, we received multiple emails stating "We are reaching out because your solar system's auto reporter has failed to report for several months now...." and that our fixed monthly payment would be held until the auto reporter came back online. Calling & emailing Heather K out of NJ is useless at this point as she no longer returns calls or emails. My husband called & spoke to a Marie who said she'd call back & never did. Last time the guys came out they said they needed to order a part to fix it & that it would be in in a week - that was on November 2nd and they still have not returned to fix it. I am paying on a 30,000 loan for these panels that #1) when it did work, didn't save me any money on my electric bill - no change whatsoever in that and #2) hasn't been working in months and no one calls or emails or replies to any of our calls/emails to provide us with an update. This has been the most horrendous customer service experience I have ever come across & have no idea how they can even be in business! I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Our system has been down since October 2018, per ***. Guys come out to do work and leave without saying anything. Just logged into my account and still shows:
ContractsMonthly Payment On Hold - Not Reporting

Regards

This is just a monitoring issue that the crew has been working on resolving. You can give your meter readings to *** trade manually during this delay until the auto reporting is back online.

Amergy is not paying the referral fee for a residential solar system that was promised to me per email by their sales person. I have called and emailed numerous times, have sent invoices, all to no avail.

Amergy Solar Response • Aug 30, 2018

The referral fee had been ailed out.

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not understand the response message from the business. If they claim they paid the referral fee, which I think they are trying to say, I would like to know when and how they paid it. Thank you,

Regards

The check is on it's way to you.

My sales rep has been great to work with, Saves exactly what they said it would, NY Tax Credit and Property tax abatement made this a real winner! Have had the system up for a while now. Referred a Family member too and got a $500 check a few weeks after their system was installed

Hi ***,
Thanks so much for the positive review! We look forward to more referrals!

Amergy solar installed a solar panel system on the roof of my house , the installation is absolutely bad , the piping had to be done twice , the internal connections had to be corrected three times by different technicians , after all completed my electric bill since the installation is still high on average of $140.00 monthly , plus the note to DCU bank for the purchase of the solar system.despite many calls ,this company is not standing behind their product and workmanship , finding all kind of excuses but to address the problem. it is clear that a miscalculation of the load required and the amount of panels installed is erroneous .this company representative had a misguiding offer to install their solar system to have a low electrical bill witch is not the case. I may not have any choice but to litigate the matter.

To whom it may concern,

*** was installed back in 2016. We have been communicating with him via phone and email on his concerns. We have checked his system and the system is producing what it was designed to produce. The pipes were an issue and we addressed it by correcting the issue when it happened. He also had a problem with his Utility Meter which Con-edison addressed and corrected. Samir has mentioned several times that his neighbors went solar and they only pay delivery charges. We explained to him that not everyone whom has gone solar is going to have the same results because of what type of system they have.

I have attached to this the signed agreement we had in our system showing the breakdown the sales associate went over with you. It shows a monthly savings of $4 a month. The representative you had is no longer with the company, but any information executed on file does not show that he had misrepresented any information.

We have been to your site to check the system and all is working according to what was expected. Your signed agreement is with Sunpower. If there is an under performance with your system Sunpower will pay the difference.

We are always concerned when a customer is not happy which is why we sent the crew to check the system. The system is performing as expected n the signed agreements.

I am rejecting this response because: if Sunpower is the party responsible , as the installer of the system it is your duty to inform and insure a follow up with Sunpower .I will try to find their contact and reach out to them for a solution .if you have any mean of contact please share it so we can resolve this matter Regards
