Review: On May 14, 2015 I sent AMERI-KING CORP an emergency locator transmitter (ELT) for repair. I was told that there was a 1 day turnaround time. After not hearing from them, I contacted them on the 19th and was told they hadn't even looked at it yet. I stressed to them that my customer was to fly on the 21st and needed it back. They said they would get right on it. I called later on that day and still hadn't started on it. The next day I got a call from them telling me the unit was not repairable and gave me the option of purchasing another ELT at discounted price. I agreed and received the ELT in time for my customer to make his flight. The problem that I have is the original ELT I sent them had brand new batteries in it that I just installed prior to sending it to them. I told them this prior to sending it to them and they said they were going to replace them before they started working on it to eliminate the batteries as the problem. After determining the ELT not repairable, I wanted old ELT back with the new batteries that I installed. They said no problem but I havnt received the ELT or the new batteries yet. I have talked to them on the phone several times and at least one email requesting the return of the ELT and batteries. Each time they told me they would send it but never did. On the 10th of June (my last attempt), they said it didn't ship out because they wanted me to pay the shipping fees so I provided my UPS account number for them and was told it would ship out that same day. Never received it. To make matters worse, one of my other customers with the same ELT installed needed his batteries replaced (they have a shelf life/ expiration date) and I wanted to use the new batteries in his ELT instead of purchasing another set for 140.00Desired Settlement: I need the old ELT returned to me along with the new batteries. They ship out ELT's on a daily basis with no problem but they cant return my ELT ? Makes me wonder if the ELT was repairable and they took this opportunity to sell me a new unit instead of repairing it.

If they don't have my old ELT and batteries, then I expect a new set of batteries minimum.

I purchased an AK-451 ELT as a slide-in replacement for an older model. New unit was defective and activated three separate occasions while airplane was sitting in the hangar.

Ameri-King has proven incredibly difficult to work with. They would not simply send out a replacement and instead forced up to ship it cross country to them for repair, which we did overnight courier as the airplane is AOG. The took three days to repair the unit, vs. the promised one day turnaround, ignored the requirement to replace the batteries as the defective unit had activated for a number of hours (FAA rule is to replace batteries after one hour of use) and then shipped it back UPS ground which took 6 days to reach NY.

Upon discovering they hadn't replaced the batteries they told us to either ship the unit back or buy new batteries as "they are cheap".

They do not return phone calls and are easily one of the worst customer support organizations I've dealt with.

Review: The business in question assembles and markets ELT's (Emergency Locator Transmitters) for aircraft. The business is also the authorized repair facility for their products.

I purchased one of their products (an ALK-451) from a retail distributor in Oregon on Dec16, 2013. The product was advertised to have a two year warrantee.

The product failed less than one year later. I initially spoke on the phone to staff at the business, and was told to replace one of the batteries in the unit, …which I did. The new battery solved the problem for approx 1 week. I again spoke to staff at the business and was told to send the unit to them, and that it would be a "one day turnaround".

The ELT was sent to them on Nov 26, and received by them on Dec 2, 2014.

I spoke to "[redacted]" on approx Dec 23rd, and was initially told they were working on the unit, and I needed to send them $195. When I explained that the unit was less than one year old, I was told that there would be no charge if I would email or fax proof of purchase date, which I did on Dec 23.

I have since left phone messages, and an email requesting a status update via phone or email, but the company thus far has ignored me.

Operating my airplane without this device compromises safety, in that no emergency signal is broadcast in the event of an accident. Yet failing to fly the airplane regularly compromises pilot proficiency as well as the mechanical condition of the engine.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.Desired Settlement: I want the product repaired and returned to me immediately, with a new two year warrantee. Personal safety is at risk with each day that they delay.
