Review: Purchased a retractable screen door on 1/11/13 and it is already ripping and is not retracting. Very disappointed in product. Tries numerous times to call Bill with no call back.Desired Settlement: Replace or refund the product.

Review: On September 18th 2012 the owner of America Screens ([redacted]) came to my home to give and estimate for a retractable screen at my front door. After reviewing all my options with him I agreed to have a retractable screen installed. The total contract price was $390.00 with a $195.00 deposit (50%). I paid him the $195.00 which was deposited by American Screens soon after. The approximate completion date was listed as "2 wks". Two weeks went by without a call from [redacted] or anyone at America Screens to schedule an install date. I called and left a message for [redacted] or someone to call me back. After a week I never received a call back. I called again and got [redacted] on the line. We spoke and he apologized and said he was extremely busy and said he couldn't do it for another week or so. He had also mentioned that his wife's parent(s) was ill and that she was not in the office to help during that time. We did not schedule a date at that time because he was going call back with a time he could do the install. I understood at that point and was willing to wait/ be patient. Another couple weeks went by without a call back. I called and spoke with a receptionist and could not get [redacted] to call back.

Now we were well outside the "(20) days from the approximate date specified on the contract when work will begin is a violation of the Contractor's License Law" as specified on the contract. At that point I decided to cancel the installation. I called a few more times before getting [redacted] on the line. I told him I wanted to cancel and he indicated that it's close to the holidays, and that he didn't have the $195 to pay me back. He also said he could pay me back a little at a time. $100 one week, the remaining $95 another time. I was ok with that and agreed. To date 9/23/13 I have not received payment of the original deposit amount in any increment from America Screens / [redacted]. I have called a few times since only getting an answering machine. Never get a call back. It's like I just gave somebody $195.00 for no reason at all.Desired Settlement: I never received any service or physical product from the American Screens. I would like to be refunded the $195.00 deposit.
