Review: My father has the same name as I do but every other year his collection accounts end up on my credit report despite the fact that there is greater than 2 decades in age difference between us and we live in opposite coast of the country (MA for myself and CA for him).

The level of verification done on collection accounts that go in credit accounts is abysmal and this is an occurrence common enough to be one of the options on credit report dispute forms. With the amount of information given for any account one would have to be negligent in verifying accounts for 2 people with the same name but completely different ages and states of residence to be so easily confused. This level of negligence that goes into the information in one's credit report is appalling for the level of importance given to reports on all financial decisions.

There are hundreds of thousands of people with the same or similar names who are bound to be the victim of this negligence in the verification of collection accounts. It would seem reasonable that credit report agencies would at the very least verify that the ages of the person whose name is in the collection account and the person who's credit report is being affected actually are the same age.

Some type of bare minimum verification should be possible.Desired Settlement: Removing the inaccurate information from my credit report immediately. Verifying that the age and state of residency of the person with the collection account and the person who you are reporting to the credit report agencies are the same (common sense). A letter acknowledging this debt is not my own and shouldnt be on my credit report.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

At this time I cannot resolve the consumer’s complaint because I cannot locate any information given the information provided.

I would kindly request that the consumer provide some identifying information so we may look into his claims. Information that would be helpful to our search includes the credit bureau account number, name of the creditor, amount of the alleged account, or information relating to his father so we may attempt to locate information.

We appreciate any assistance that you may provide.

Sincerely,

Response:

I have not included personal information as suggested by the Revdex.com due to the public reposting of the complaint on the Revdex.com site. I would be happy to speak with any representative of American Agencies LLC if provided with a phone number or email along with a time to call.

Review: I can not get a credit card to pay my health care because American Agency will not provide me with a receipt for a paid bill. The are legally bonded to give me a receipt if I make payment and they will not provide a receipt even after send a request via US Mail two times and speaking with a manager. I thought the Fair Credit Reporting Act states that "If I have an account with a Creditor, that they have an accountability to me to send me a receipt anytime they receive payment." Is that not correct?Desired Settlement: I want American Agency LLC to send a receipt of payment to me immediately.
