We had informed this client verbally and in writing that there would be port fees and custom clearance procedures and duties taxes in Guatemala that would have to be dealt with by him upon arrival of the shipment into GuatemalaMr*** insisted that the last time he shipped there,
there was non of these charges and I told him he was in error as these sort of charges are levied in every destination country.I asked Mr*** why he was not using the same freight company he shipped his prior shipment with and he said the service he received from the other company was terrible and incompetent.I repeatedly reminded Mr*** of the port fees, custom clearance procedures during the process of collection of his shipment yet he still insisted he was familiar with the Guatemala destination procedures.The shipment was sent on *** *** *** which is a very well established and credible shipping company in the shipping industryEvery was done professionally and properly on behalf of Mr***After the freight arrival in Guatemala we responded promptly to every correspondence from Mr*** including evenings and weekends.Unfortunately I had to remind Mr*** of our past conversations and written correspondence yet he insists the steamship line and there agent and our company and Guatemala Customs were at fault.*** ***MgrDir.American Baggage & Box Transport Inc

I WISHED and was prepared to pack my furniture, but American Baggage's Belgian shipper c arrived to pick up my shipment without the pallet that *** *** promised: I immediately called him , got no answer, and then called the Belgian office (***) who said THEY would pack the itemsI complained in email to ***, who then sent an email to ***, asking him to take care of my shipment*** did NOT DISCUSS this with my credit card company: he told them he would discuss a solution with meOn occasions, he emailed that he would process my insurance payment, and then he refused

We make every effort to have all shipments handled in a proper and professional mannerUnfortunately this clientdid not follow our instructions that were quite clear" Pack your items suitably for shipping purposes".In this case the client chose to send furniture that was not packed in any way what so ever claiming the truck driver said it was okay.We the insurance company will not insurance unpacked furnitureIt should never have to sent unpackedThe trucking companyhas stated their objection to unpack furniture and according to them has stated to the client unpacked furniture is not acceptable.Packing of all items is required and frankly, common sense.We reject the claim, the trucking company involved rejects the claim and the insurance company rejects the claim

Please add your rejection comments below. I am so blown away by this response from Mr. [redacted]! When I wrote the complaint I was careful not to exaggerate the situation. He told me once, the first time we talked that there might be port fees. I asked for what? I told him I had just shipped all the rest of my stuff with another company from San Francisco and did have to pay any fees or taxes or anything. The service I received from the company in San Francisco was far beyond excellent. But as I mentioned in my complaint, this shipment that I am complaining about left from El Paso Texas, where I left the USA from. I couldn't use them. Mr. [redacted] is lying. When I told him that I didn't have to pay port fees before he literally said, " ok" and moved on. He never mentioned it again. When I talked to him from Guatemala he was short with me and very rude! He tries to make it sound like he was consiliatory. He could care less. As the company that revived the freight told me that American Baggage had sent the goods wrong and that they only handle business fright. I mentioned all this before. This reply from Mr. [redacted] is just a flat out lie! I was thinking he would reply with something like, well I told him. And I was thinking that with that kind of a reply what really can I do. But his reply is such an overwhelming lie I am blown away. I don't know what to do or say. At first I thought I was the victim of a man who made a mistake doing his job, it happens, and I had to pay for it but it wasn't malicious. But after reading the response I know I was completely taken advantage of. Wow what can I do now? This man directly TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME! Now he is lying. Please help me! I can not in good conscience let him do this to me. I was actually thinking of chalking it up to experience until I just read his response! He lied so much! This is mind blowing! It was $1000.00 not a couple of hundred bucks. But he is lying! And the lie saying I told him I did not use the other shipping company because of bad service! Where did this come from! He is making lies up he didn't have to!!! Please hep me stop him from doing this to me or any one else.

Unfortunately client shipped unpacked furniture items after we repeatedly to told the client not to send anything that was unpacked. The items should never have been shipped to begin with.  We discussed this further with the clients credit card company  which found no fault on our...
