Dear [redacted], Sorry for the delay in responding to your request for an email. In response to [redacted] and her complaint. [redacted] is a nice older woman who has a small rental apartment attached to her home in [redacted]., NJ. The shower in this rental was in dire need of remodeling and [redacted] had called several contractors to get estimates for the work. All the quotes that she had received were quite high and beyond her budget. She told me the story of the contractor who did her floor in the bathroom ( a handyman ) and I recommended another floor company in the area to fix the floor. She ended up using that flooring company with great results. I submitted an estimate for work required to remodel her shower with acrylic materials. My quote was less than half the price of all the other quotes. I re-used the existing diverter in the wall to help keep costs down and frankly, I just gave her a low price in order to help out this nice older woman who seemed to be in a real bind. After several calls [redacted] finally agreed to accept my proposal. During the course of the project [redacted] asked me to do additional work in the bathroom which added some expense to the project and she was charged for some floor repair that was needed after removal of the existing shower base revealed some hidden damage. The additional work amounted to $495 while all other aspects of the project cost exactly what was quoted. Our agreement never included removal of the debris which was to be treated like regular trash for the local trash collector. There were no additional charges except for the hidden damage repairs and the extra work [redacted] requested that I do for her. There was an issue of two trim strips that needed to be installed but I have not received a return phone call from [redacted] so I must assume she no longer needs me to install them.
