American Bath Resurfacing Reviews (1)

Review: We had our tub and tile walls glazed by this Company on or about April 6-7, 2011. We were advised when we consulted with the Company that the glaze would last between 5 and 10 years before it needed to be touched up depending on the use of the tub. They also told us that they were a local business and had a reputation in the community and that they would come and make repairs at little or no fee because they stood behind the quality of their work. We had the work done while we were on vacation and our relatives let them into the house. We returned to find work that was not perfect, but we were satisfied. Essentially, in many spots, the glaze was sprayed on the painted parts of the wall when it should have only been on the tiled part. Since we planned to repaint the bathroom anyway though, we did not make an issue of this.

Less than a year after the work was done, we started to notice bubbles in the tub. This lasted for a bit and then they started to rupture and peel. The glaze around the ends of the tub also started to peel. Ultimately, we reached out to the Company to have them come fix it. We played email/phone tag for several months and finally made arrangements for them to come fix it. Without seeing the job, they said that it would probably cost $100 to fix.

Today, the son arrived and was very angry, apparently the job was bigger than what had been described to him. He yelled at my husband and became very aggressive. He stormed out of our house and almost hit my husband with his car while my husband was trying to photograph his license plate (at that point, my husband did not yet know that it was the son of the owner). My husband filed a police report with the Morris Township PD.

We've showed pictures of the work to other professionals who agree that it should not have needed to be repaired so soon. In fact, our next door neighbor is a contractor on a home repair television show and he also agrees that the work was bad.Desired Settlement: Originally we were only seeking to have the work fixed and were even willing to pay for a portion of the cost even though the work was poor to begin with. In light of the recent developments, we are seeking a cash refund in the amount that it would take to have the work done by another company. If they are unwilling to do so, I am an attorney and will take this matter to Court. It will not cost me anything in legal fees to pursue the matter.
