September 14, 2016To Whom it May Concern:We have received the complaint filed by *** *** with the Revdex.com regarding the bill he states he received for "over $1500" from CPRSIt is the policy of CPRS Physical Therapy to bill patients for deductible and co-insurance after the claims have been completely
processed by the insurance carrier*** *** was informed on March 3, 2016, that he would be responsible for his deductible, $1,500.00, and co-insurance, 20%, until his out of pocket amount of $5,was met (see attached Patient Check in Form, page 2, section 3)Our Physical Therapist Staff member, Kristin R, and Physical Therapist Assistant, Beth L, do not remember discussing anything with *** *** regarding his financial responsibilityIt is probable that Amber reviewed the paperwork with the standard information that the patient would not be responsible to pay up-front for the visits, but would be billed once the insurance had processed the claims.CPRS has a contractual obligation to make its best efforts to collect all copayments, coinsurance and deductibles, which is all that we have done in this caseCPRS did not mislead the patient in any manner,*** *** has owed CPRS a total of $ 1,To-date, he has paid $On June 23, 2016, we received a note from *** *** indicating that we were not billing *** *** aCCurately based on the EOB from the insurance carrier that she had receivedShe had attached an EOB and indicated that the amount that the Gill's were responsible for was $Our Payment Specialist, Kelly M, reviewed the EOB and determined that *** *** was incorrectly looking at the contractual adjustment we are required to accept from the insurance carrierKelly left a message requesting that *** *** call our office so that we could explain the EOB to her but CPRS never received a return call.We regret the patient misunderstood CPRS' contractual obligations to attempt to collect the applicable deductible amountsNevertheless, in an effort to amicably resolve this matter, and without suggesting CPRS did anything improper, CPRS will agree to forego its collection efforts against *** *** if the matter is closed without any further action or reportingThank you for your consideration.Sincerely,Erica FBilling and Collections Director Clerical Corporate Compliance Coordinator
