I bought a used car from another dealer and had to take it in to American Chevrolet to do a service test. The car was in poor shape and my agent Kenny at American Chevrolet was so extremely helpful it was such a relief to have someone on my side. I really appreciate how friendly and accessible the staff is. I never had to wait very long for a return call! Great experience!

Review: Didn't properly diagnose car issue, tried to get me to pay for things that were not needed, treated unfairly because I am a girl

Our car was towed in due to check engine light flashing and stalling out. Did a night drop off on 10/30/2013. On 10/31/2013 my wife [redacted] was told she would have a diagnosis by 2 and didnt, didnt get one until 4:30. She was given a laundry list of things wrong with the car including the intake mainfold seal, mamf sensor, cat converter plugged and both sai air valves in operable and that they didnt know if the o2 sensors were bad. She called her brother who is a master level drive-ability tech for Chevrolet in ohio and gave him what she was told about the repairs needed. He told me it was not possible. He then called teh service writer [redacted] at American chevy and got all the codes pulled from the car and was given an estimate of how much it would cost to fix everything. He then called back to [redacted] and [redacted] changed his story on what was wrong. He then talked to the Service Manager [redacted] and [redacted] told him they are used to working on prestine cars and that this one has a lot of issues. The intake manifold leak needs to be fixed and then the other codes will go away. The leak is triggering the codes incorrectly. Ultimately they were rude to my wife and told us our car was not good enough and had too many issues. They then continued to charge us for the diagnosis which was incorrect. My wife had to pay the $165 which for teh way we were treated and the horrible diagnosis work that was done is not okay. The service manager [redacted] told her brother that "we have to do what we have to do". That is not okay!Desired Settlement: I would like our 165$ back ASAP!

As I stated on the phone, this complaint has been resolved. The vehicle was towed in with 9 different codes in the computer. Their was a laundry list of repairs that could have been made based on those codes. My service writer did not do a good job in discussing the order these should have been done to eliminate the possibility of not having to do them all because some codes may have cleared up by following the trouble tree. Megan had also contacted the BAR and we reviewed this with them last week and decided the proper thing to do was to refund her the $165.00 she paid for the diagnosis, which was done.

Review: I was having problems with overheating, oil leak & my car slowing down and me having to park it for a few minutes to cool down. I called the service department to schedule my car to adress the problems I was having. I scheduled an oil change to. I dropped car off, got a call from Tech and he said that the over heating was from wires melted & my fans were not working. Once this was fixed he would check the oil leak & the why the car was slowing down. My car was at the shop about a week & the shop rented me a car from Enterprise. I got a call the follwing Friday saying car was good and the oil leak was fixed and they had my car checked out and there was nothing wrong with my car or transmission that they can see.The tech also said that my car was test driven 20+ miles and ran great. I was happy to hear that went to pick my car up after paying around 1,100 and dropped off rent a car. On my way to pick my child up from school and my car started overheating & slowed down and wouldnt move. I called shop & they said bring it back. Took back and they kept car from Friday to Wednesday. Tech called & said I have not so great news It is your Transmission. I was shocked to hear that because first they said my Transmission was good and now it's not and the overheating they couldn't see. went to pick car up had Transmiision replaced at another shop car was there for almost a month. Finally go get it & my car left me stranded overheated & froze up on me. I eneded up taking it back to transmission shop and the mechanic couldnt figure it out. Took it to a mechanic that I know and he found that it was my brake master cylinder and it was probably not my Transmission. Im very upset about this because I have spent about 5,000 on this car for work that wasnt even needed. My car still overheated & we bought a Thermostat changed it and the overheated stopped so was the wiring and fans a issue. It was a inconvience not havig a car, getting rides to work and using the bus for kids to get to & from school.Desired Settlement: I would like at least half of what I have paid into this car. They failed to find the actual problem and even when I got my car back it was still doing the same from when I put the car in the shop the first time with them. I went to them beacuse they have worked on my car before with no problems but however this time I just was not satisfied. The problem was not fixed.
