I purchased a vehicle from Byers Subaru in Dublin Ohio in the summer of 2010. I purchased GAP protection/insurance on the vehicle I purchased and had it rolled into the bank loan for the car through Huntington National Bank. I recently in April 2014 traded my car in at a dealership in [redacted]. I still had remaining payments on the vehicle and unused GAP protection. I contacted Huntington National Bank to start the refund process for refund of the remaining unused GAP protection/insurance. Huntington Bank informed me that it is their policy to not refund GAP insurance. I cannot find on my contract when I purchased the loan through Huntington National Bank that my GAP insurance would not be refunded if the vehicle was traded in early. I feel this is dishonest lending practices. Huntington National Bank charged me for a service that I did not use and then refused to refund the remainder of unused product. I find this to be theft/fraud at the worst and at the very least dishonest lending practices. If I had known that my GAP insurance would not be refunded if the vehicle was traded in, then I would have chosen to have GAP insurance provided by one of the other numerous GAP providers or chosen to have my financing performed through a different lender. I was never late on a payment for my car loan. I will not recommend Huntington National Bank to any friends or family.
