American Construction Concepts

We hired American Construction Concepts based on a referral from a family member. Our initial meeting was positive. We met both the owner and another member of his crew. Both seemed knowledgeable at that point.
When they arrived the first day, my doubts started. They had only sheets not tarps to cover the furniture, and after the first day's work, we found sloppy work with paint splatter on floors, electrical connections and door knobs. When I mentioned the mess, I was first told that it was a previous paint job. When I pointed out the color matched the walls he painted, I was told that everything would be taken care of at the end of the job.
The next day, after they left, there was big globs of white on my kitchen chairs. When I discussed it with him the next day, they answer I received was "That's not paint, it's spackle." I told him, either way, it shouldn't be on my kitchen chairs, as they were supposed to be covered. Again, I was told that it would be cleaned. At the end of that day, he left with a small roller pan and semi-gloss white, stating that he needed to do some touch up at his house.
The next day, they were pushing to finish the job, and both painters were working together on rooms. They painted both bathrooms at the same time, even though my husband and I were both home. Poor planning on their part. At the end of that day, when we checked everything, there was paint on the kitchen cabinets, wood floors, door knobs and computer wires. There was also wall paint on the ceiling in the kitchen. The molding in the kitchen was never finished, and that's when we realized there was no more semi-gloss paint left. For the small amount that needed to be painted, he would have had enough paint, had he not taken some home to "do a few touch ups at his house."
When he came the next day, an argument arose between him and my husband. At first, he refused to buy any more paint to finish the molding, and then he agreed to buy a quart to finish the job. At that point, I was so disgusted with both him and the job he did, I told him I would give him the balance due, because that is what I agreed to pay him. I told him I did not want him to come back to finish the clean-up because it was too upsetting to have him there. I told him I would never use him again, nor would I refer him to anyone I knew.
He left with him check and said he would leave the quart of paint at the front door the next day. He never kept his word to drop off the paint. He was a terrible businessman and a shoddy workman and I would advise others to stay clear of this company in the future, when looking to hire a painting contractor.
