I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] I, *** ***, do NOT accept business response I purchased the boat in October and realized a few months later that it required a new motor One of the main reasons I took it to Mastercraft was because he advertises that he is a Member of the Revdex.com He was unable to find a new motor, so I stepped in & located one out of states and connected the business with the motor with John @ MasterTech Together they matched serial #'s and came up with the identical new motor John stated that once the motor was received, it would be 3-days to be completed We had it shipped to MasterTech and gave the initial deposit of $ The reason I went to get the alternator was because John has no help to go pick up parts Boat dealers do not deliver parts to businesses like auto part businesses do At one time I stopped by to on check status of boat, they told me it needed a new ignition The helper he had working on it that day had the wiring completely taken apart sitting on top of the motor where no water can get to it and could not figure out what was wrong I went and purchased a new ignition for them and delivered it and stood there while they installed it.......not the problem Turned the key and it did the same thing Ever since we picked up the boat the first time, they've hooked something else up wrong and it continues to draw the battery power down and he couldn't figure out what the problem was and that he didn't know what he did wrong, so he told me after every use, I had to turn batteries off That is NOT required to do on ANY boat The second time I brought the boat back to him, he stated to me that he didnt have the right part and had to call a friend to set the timing and borrow one from him (I have Johns response on voice mail)The bottom line to this is I paid this guy over $10,to put a new motor in it and he let me drive away with a boat not running Upon investigation for $10,I could have a boat that runs and money left over in my pocket This is not fair business practice to charge a customer $10,and I leave with a boat not running Another bad business practice is when I took the boat back for additional repairs that John and his helper caused and he would let my boat sit on the lot for 3-days and not touch it AGAIN, when this all started it was a 3-day fix and John continued to make mistakes on repairing the boat and it ended up being over weeks and I still have a boat that ISNT running We CANNOT use our boat because I feel MasterTech is not qualified to take on that large of a job Not one time did he ever "water test" it Instead he would say it was ready, we would pick the boat up, put it in the water ourselves and broke down multiple times and stranded in the water with nothing! I paid MasterTech over $10,and he has my money and I have a boat that isn't running No one should be able to conduct business in this manner and certainly should NOT be a Member of the Better Business Buraeu I am requesting a refund because I have to have my boat fixed and pay more money to fix the problems MasterTech

The customer has not told the complete story. This boat was purchased by them last fall without being started and tested. When the boat was ran for about 10 minutes by the customer they found that the oil became contaminated with water. they brought the boat to me and I explained that it most likely...

had a cracked engine block due to freezing. We got approval to tear down and inspect. upon doing so we found that the engine had recently been apart, bolts were broken and missing, gaskets had been reused, and there were cracks in the block below the intake manifold. we ordered the engine that the customer wanted us to and proceeded with repairs. When the engine was removed we found rust stains on the flywheel and crankshaft pulley indicated that the boat had sat some time with water in the bilge halfway over the crankshaft. This would result in electrical parts and wiring, such as the starter, alternator, fuel pump, etc. sitting in water for some time. The customer was advised that this could likely result in electrical problems with the boat. Upon attempting to start the new engine we found that the alternator had indeed shorted out and was drawing power away from the starter, customer was advised and he chose to go pick one up so that we could get it going sooner. The engine was then started and adjustments were made. When taken out on the water the boat lacked power and took on some water. We checked and found that the ignition timing tool we had used did not function properly on this boat, we purchased and scan tool and reset timing. We also repaired a connection at the power steering cooler to stop the water coming in. customer picked boat up and after 8.4 hours of run time on it the engine stalled. Upon check out when the boat was brought back we found that the fuel pump had low pressure. The boat had been run out of gas by the customer during this time also--this is not good on an electric fuel pump. I feel that we did what we were paid to do and the boat ran for 8.4 hours, the parts that we charged for on the invoice were parts needed to install the engine correctly and we sourced and bought all of them (I actually did not charge them for the water pump impeller kit, this saved them about $180.00). The fuel pump comes as a kit and I am not comfortable rebuilding it and advised the customer of such. the boat is likely to have more problems in the future due to water sitting over electrical components. I feel are not responsible for the fuel pump and other items damaged by water before boat was purchased but customer. The boat ran for 8.4 hours after repair, it was run for 10 minutes before. 10 minutes is not enough time to fully test things.  Thank you, John

I feel that I explained things well in my first response. The customer has not contacted me to resolve anything, but they are welcome to do so. Thank you.
