Thank you for taking time regarding this matterIn response to Mr [redacted] letter, we feel that the work was performed in the best manner possible & we endeavored to communicate effectively with him throughout the entire processThe vehicle came in with a coolant leakThe technician advised that it was behind the intake manifold & hard to see the exact locationHe was advised at that time that it was likely in the cylinder head or cylinder block area, but needed to remove the intake manifold to verifyMr [redacted] authorized further tear-down diagnosisOnce the manifold was removed, it was clear that the coolant leak was at the head gasketHe was given an estimate of roughly $dollars at this time with the possibility of additional head damage as was stated on the invoice that Mr [redacted] signed at the time of the delivery of the vehicleMr [redacted] authorized this repairOnce the cylinder head was removed, it was pressure tested & checked to see if it was warpedThe cylinder head had two exhaust valves that did not hold pressure & the cylinder head was warped in the same area that the coolant was leaking fromMr [redacted] authorized the repair of the cylinder head at roughly $additionalAt this time there was a payment arrangement made that he would pay $upon delivery of the vehicle & Curt's Auto Repair would carry the approximately $balanceThe day that the cylinder heads were installed, the technician was torqueing the head bolts & the threads pulled out of the engine blockThe process is a multi-step one & the bolt stripped out on the first torque stepAt this point we contacted Mr [redacted] and told him that it would be an additional $to install a Time-Sert thread repair kit in the cylinder blockHe authorized the repair based on the fact that we were making payment arrangements with himHe called back 10-minutes later and stated that he really couldn't afford the repairs right nowHe asked if he could tow it home and then bring it back in one or two months as soon as he was financially able to complete the balance of the repairsIt was told him multiple times at that time that the car would have to be towed because it was disassembledAt that time we also discussed what was a fair charge for the repairs that were performedIt was agreed that he would pay half of the cylinder head labor, the initial checkout, not the additional $tear-down diagnosis, and the cylinder head repairWe agreed that he would show up the following day because the car had to be reassembled enough that it could roll onto a tow truckWhen Mr [redacted] showed up at the shop the next day, he did express that he had some questions with the car
