American Garage Doors & Openers Reviews (%countItem)

I ordered some new garage doors from this company on June 10, 2018. They wanted to have a downpayment of $1000. before they would order, which I gave them. The doors were due the middle of July. They never came.I called the end of July to see what was going on. They said they would be here on Tuesday July 31st. They never showed up. I called, they gave me an excuse. I wanted my deposit back and have been unable to get it from them.. I have tried calling and lines are busy. Can you help me with this problem? It would be most appreciated.

Desired Outcome

Refund Refund of my $1000.00 deposit.

This company came to my house in December to replace a garage door motor. Told me that I needed a new door panel. Requested a 290.00 deposit on parts. Since December I have had multiple missed service appointments with a "No Show No Call". I missed days from work waiting for the tech worker to come. When I call for a supervisor *** I was given more broken appointments. He was very rude and unconcerned. I asked for a refund, considering I have waited 5 months. After two weeks I was told it was in the mail. When I call back now, I'm told to call back and talk to the only person who can answer my question about my refund. Still no one calls back. My money is being held for month on top of months with no service or refund. When checking with the Revdex.com on-line complaint review I've noted 68 complaints against this company for the same dishonest service.
Product_Or_Service: Gargage door panel

Desired Outcome

Refund I want my money returned to me ASAP. I want this company investigated for the good of future consumers. Holding money and services. Multiply broken service calls resulting in customers missing days off work.

Garage door originally ordered Nov 25, 2017 and a good delivery date was given. On day of install the installer damaged a panel. In addition two of the other three panels got installed backwards. He advised they would re-order the panel which had ~3 week lead-time. The first delivery date was missed. The panel that came in was the wrong size and I was told another one would be ordered. The second re-order got screwed up as well so they advised another order would be placed.

After 3 repromises on the delivery, it's now
late Feb 2018 I was told the new delivery was March 3rd but when I called to check I was now told delivery would be March 14th. Multiple phones calls were made by me to the company for information. I usually had to leave a message asking to be called. NO ONE ever returned the calls and I always had to call again.

Finally on March 15 I called and I was told an install would be the next Tuesday, March 21, 2018. This was done but the door tracks were not installed. So, on Friday March 23 I was called and told it would be Tuesday the 27th between 2 PM and 5 PM. Another No Show nor was any phone call made to
me about not making it. This company has the Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced. After 4 months the install of a garage door is still not completed. How the company stays in business is a great mystery.

Customer Response • Apr 24, 2018

The issue that was the subject of the complaint has finally been resolved by American Garage Door. It was finally resolved on or about March 28, 2018; just a 'mere' 4 months after order placement. Ironically even the final appointment date provided was missed and had to be reset.

While I understand the general legality regarding the Revdex.com's ability to force any legal action to require a company to respond to your requests, it goes without saying there is a clear lack of professionalism by the subject company.

A certainly feel the ratting Revdex.com places on businesses like this must be a matter of record.

Thank you your assistance with this.

Regards

AmeriServ Garage Doors took my 50% deposit of $1,260 to replace 2 garage doors in October 2017. They insisted it be by check. After promising a 3 week installation they rescheduled and canceled it 5 times. Never did they call me. They just didn't show up. After 4 months they asked if I wanted a refund. I said yes. They said they needed 10 days to send my refund. It has now been 30 days. Still no refund. No communication, no door, no refund, no care. Only stealing my money. The CEO, nor my salesman has responded to letters, calls or emails.

Customer Response • Mar 14, 2018

After I posted a factual (negative) review on Google, did they sent me my refund check. The facts remain: horrible service, no communication, contradictory stories, no ownership of problem.

Their inability to show up, communicate, or respond was unbelievable. When I asked for my refund after 4 months they promised to send it twice in 10 days and did not. Only after I publicly shared the truth on Google did they act. I do have my check now. I'm still angry at the time, angst, and energy I had to spend. Can't believe they are allowed to stay in business treating people like this. "Statements like I can't make my CEO send you a check" from the manager who sold me the deal don't sit well, after I displayed ultimate patience after their no-showing five times, only to tell me after 4 months that they now can't order the door..... What!!!!

Refund of $853.00
I am demanding a full refund of $853.00 paid to American Garage Doors & Openers (the Company)on September 27, 2017, by check *** for the repair of my garage. 10x7 white solid t50 door on torsion 12r track trim. Job card #***. The Company never provided the service. I have been speaking with the Company every week about this matter. The Company refuse to refund my $853.00 The Company keep promising to send my money and to date I have not received my $853.00. I last spoke with *** on November 11, 2017, he stated that he mailed the check but put the wrong address on the check. Today is December 4, 2017, I have not received my $853.00.

Desired Outcome

Total refund of my $853.00

Company repeatedly scheduled my garage door installation only to call the day of scheduled installation to cancel. Now I cannot get my refund.
On Aug 29, 17 I gave a 50% deposit of over $800 for a garage door to be installed 6 weeks later. At 6 week installation date, the "weather" and "panel defects" were among excuses why they couldn't install. We went through four additional installation dates over the next month with no garage door installation due to various excuses. I finally canceled the installation and requested a refund on 10-18-17. Another company installed the garage door within 10 business days. They said my refund would hit my bank account within 7-10 business days. Here I am at 11-22-17 with no refund and being told it will be an additional 10-14 days because they outsource their refunds and can only process once per month. The accounting manager will stay calm, cool, and collective with great customer service while not being at all resolving of the issue at hand. Stay away from this company.

Desired Outcome

Complete refund, immediately.

GOOD AFTERNOON,
OUR APPOLOGIES FOR THE EXPERIENCE THE CUSTOMER HAS HAD. THE PRODUCT DISCUSSED WAS SUBJECT TO A FEW PRODCUTION DELAYS BUT WE DID COMMUNICATE.SINCE THEN WE DID AGREE TO REFUND THE DEPOSIT PAID AND CUSTOMER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF AN ETA WHEN TO EXPECT IT. WE ALSO HAVE FORWARDED A 10% DISCOUNT ON THE ACCOUNT FOR ANY FUTUR SERVICES NEEDED.

RUN AWAY from this company. DO NOT EVER use this company. Wish I could give them a more negative review. They asked for money up front (RED FLAG), don't give a receipt or invoice, calls the day of "confirmed" appointment to cancel and reschedule (multiple times), always excuses, rude customer service, no concern for the customer, flat out lied to us. When they did come, the installation was not completed. The only way to get your money back is to sue because they demand a 50% restocking fee. We felt blackmailed!!!!

I contracted with Ameriserv on 8-14 for a job totaling $1200. I placed $600 down, which was deducted from my checking account August 15, 2017. The doors and openers were not installed because of bad weather or defects. After being pushed back to September 20, 2017, I requested a refund. Ameriserv has not returned my $600. On two occasions I was told my refund would be processed and I would receive it in 3-5 business days. I still have not received my money.

Desired Outcome

Refund My $600 should be returned to me within the next 48 hours.

Company is refunding my monies. I am satisfied with this resolution.

Customer Response

This is a second complaint against Ameriserv Garage. I noted that the name of this company is listed as American Garage. Both are same company.
Ameriserv agreed, Better Bureau Business complaint number 27566193, to give me a full refund. To-date, I have not been given all my money. I get lies and excuses. I have never seen a company that deceives the way this company does. I am owed $300.00. I have been working with ***. This issue has already caused me late fees and may affect my credit if not resolved in the next 5 days. I am on a fixed income and I need my money.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response • Feb 08, 2018

GOOD MORNING,

Cancellation of order within 1/2 hr. not accepted. They want me to pay a 50% restocking fee, which was not explained upon ordering.
Ordered garage doors/openers on Sept. 5 (via electronic pin pad). No cancellation info provided by sales rep at the time of order. Cancelled order within 1/2 hr.by e-mail (***@***w/no response. X-XX-XXXX another cancellation e-mail sent w/no response. Called on same day w/Chase, Mgr., who said cancellation involved a 50% restocking charge. Another cancellation e-mail sent on X-XX-XX re: FTC ruling of 3-days to cancel an order. Received a call today from Chase asking if I was ready for install. I told him I had cancelled the order, to which he said I cannot do so without the 50% restocking fee. I had already submitted a dispute with CitCards and today filed complaints with the GA Attorney General (ref. #XXXXXX) and FTC (ref. #XXXXXXXX). I do have copies of the e-mails I sent to Ameriserv and a copy of the FTC rules of cancellation.

Desired Outcome

The only settlement I want from Ameriserv is for them to cancel my order without any penalties, i.e. restocking fee. I would like to charge them for my time and aggravation, but will settle for them getting a slap on the wrist or fine for their outrageous practices.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Good afternoon,
We have reached out to the customer regarding this issue. We have agreed to proceed with the approval of the refund requested. In addition to extending a 10% discount on any future service.

I ordered and paid for a replacement garage door with AmeriServ in Atlanta on 8/17/17. As of today, 9/22/17, I have not received the new door.
When I paid in full for the door on 8/17 the install was set for the following week. Since then the install has been cancelled and rescheduled 7 times! Originally, I was told the delays were due to Harvey in Texas. On, 9/20 I was told the date was finally set, all materials were on the truck, and it would be completed. After they missed the service window I called and found out the truck had been delayed, but was on the way. Later they called and said it was too late and it would have to be rescheduled for the 6th time for 9/22. On 9/22 they called to say the had given my door to a handicap woman the day before and they had to reorder my door and reschedule me for 7 days out on 9/29. They told me I missed the fine print and I would be charged 50%, $400, for restocking if I cancelled. I need my garage door and I paid for it over a month ago. This company is unethical, the customer service rep refused to let me speak to a supervisor throughout the 6 weeks. I need help to make this company honor our contractual agreement.

Desired Outcome

I want a 50% refund for the stress and prolonged delays and to finally have the door installed.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Good morning,
We have reached an agreement to resolve this issue with the customer. We will be installing door on the new agreed upon date this week. Also will be refunding customer a check for $200 due to the inconvenience this delay may have caused the Perry family.

Best regards

I want the return of my depoist of $300.00 due to fact company cancelled job on four occassions from August 16-28, 2017. Was told no refund possible
I called what I thought was American Garage Door & Openers (ph: ***), as we had done business with them before and their sticker was on our garage door opener and installed garage doors. I believe I was told that the company was now AmeriServ. The tech who came out on 8/12/17 told me I needed a new door opener and the cost would be $599 and I needed to provide a $300 deposit, which I paid by credit card on 8/12/17. I was told that the job would be done on Wed, 8/15/17 and the tech would call 1/2 hour before arrival. When I didn't hear from the company, I called and was told that they didn't get the motor in and had to reschedule for 8/18. On 8/18,the company again cancelled saying some part delivered was defective. Rescheduled again for 8/22. Company again cancelled. Scheduled for 8/28. I got a call and was told that yet again some items for job not available. I told the representative calling that I was cancelling the job and wanted my money back. The person I spoke with on 8/28 identified himself as "***" said that I couldn't get a refund. I asked who the owner of the company was and was told it was ***.

Desired Outcome

Refund of my $300 deposit.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Dear Mr.:

We will be reaching out to you via phone today to schedule next week and to ensure all is completely.

We sincerely apologize for the continued delays.

On Thursday, July 6th, we damaged our garage door which had been installed by American Garage Door (precursor to AmerServ) in May 2013. AmerServ came on Friday, told us they would have to replace the whole door and they would be back to install the new door on Thursday, July 13th. They required payment of $1,695.20 up front on the 6th.

The 13th came and we received a call that the door had not been delivered by their supplier and rescheduled for Friday, July 28th. On July 28th, the installers did not show up during the scheduled appointment time and we received no call. I called and was told that they were missing a part and would have to reschedule for Thursday, Aug 10th (2 weeks seemed excessive for what I understood to be a miscellaneous part, but they were adamant). On Monday, Aug 7th, I called to ensure that they were still on schedule to install on Thursday and was assured that there were no problems and they would be here as planned. On Thursday (the 10th) no one showed up or called. When I called them, I was told they did not have the door and would have to reschedule again. I told them to cancel the order and I would go elsewhere and was told there would be a 50% restocking charge (seems odd since they supposedly did not have the door to restock). I advised them that I had no intention of paying the charge and called my credit card company and entered a dispute about the charge. Later that day, *** (sales manager) called me and said they had another higher quality door (of a different color) that they had on hand and could install either Friday or Saturday at no additional charge. I confirmed that the door could be painted and accepted the upgrade. Once again, I had to call to find out when it would be installed as I had never received confirmation of the install time.

It should be noted that I called the owner (***) on Wednesday, August 2nd, Friday, August 4th, and Wednesday, August 9th. Each time I was sent to voice mail and I left a message about my frustration and asked him to call. I never received a call back.

This would have never gotten to this level if AmerServ had been more transparent and up front with their communication. Had they 'kept me in the loop? I could have been far more accepting of the delays. As they weren't, I am left to wonder that since they already had my money if they may have found another buyer for my door while keeping me on backorder.

On a positive note, my experience with their installers was excellent.
Product_Or_Service: Garage Door

Desired Outcome

No further contact by the busi No further action required. I just wanted to register my dissatisfaction with the company's poor communication and lack of transparency

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Dear Mr.:
We have completely the work in full. Complaint came after the installation was completed. We have sent Mr. a thank you card thanking him for his continued patience as we did not mean to inconvenience him during any point in time.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I'm sorry if I did not express myself clearly in my original complaint. I certainly was not patient and find your response at best patronizing and at worst, insulting. It appears that you did no research to determine why this happened. All I was looking for was an apology for the way I was treated.

What I ordered was a white insulated garage door installed on time to replace the one I damaged. I had been happy with your company's prompt service at the time you had installed the first door. What I got was a company that showed little concern for treating me like a customer; a company that constantly failed to meet its commitments; a company that failed to communicate; and a company that ignored my repeated complaints to management. When I finally gave up and canceled the order, all of the sudden your company had a "better" door available (of the wrong color walnut that I now have to have painted) that you were able to install within two days.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Dear Mr.:

We assure you that we did not mean to come across as "patronizing" or "insulting". We wanted to merely point out that we have completed the install with an upgraded door. The notes on the account indicated that you were happy with the end results with the upgraded door. We do apologize, deeply and very sincerely for making you feel that you as a customer did not matter. Please rest assure that that was not our intent by any means. We are going to add a 2-year annual maintenance to your account to assure our workmanship for the next 2 years. Again, we did not mean to offend you Mr., we were simply confirming with the Revdex.com that the install was completed after all the complication endured. We hope to continue to be your provider and truly wish for a better outcome but we are extremely happy that we were able to provide you with an upgraded door.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Don't waste your time with these people.
I had scheduled two appointments and both times a complete no show.
No call, nothing.
Don;t waste your time.

American Garage Doors & Openers Response

Dear ***

It seems as we had the incorrect address in our database and reached out to you a couple of times. Is there anything else we can do to earn your business? We deeply apologize for any inconvenience.
