Dear [redacted] ***,This letter is in response to the complaint you received from the [redacted] 's, claim ID [redacted] Sorry for the delay but we were out of the area for two weeks as a family.I would like to give you some background on our companyWe have been in the construction business for nearly yearsWe are a local company and have been working in the same area the entire existence of our business. The work we perform is for all local clientele and have never had a complaint against us My business is all predicated on word of mouth and local references , we can provide a list of families we worked for over the years and have many repeat customers. We were scheduled to start the [redacted] ’s project well over a year ago, closer to two years by nowThe project started by them wanting to do all the work without permits and an architect involvedThe foundation was put in without any township involvement. The [redacted] ’s wanted to proceed the entire project that wayWe were told by the [redacted] ’s that a permit was not required and they were exempt Than as we were about to start the building process the township had a property inspection scheduled , because the property is preserved and annual inspections are neededThan at that point there was a different story and all of a sudden they were worried about the township being on siteAt this point I went to the township and got my architect involvedThere was a very long delay because of other things need by the township for other projects that were not properly handled on the property by township requirementsI spoke to other contractors that work prior to us on the land development and they also had issues. So now to fast forward to everything being approved by the township and all requirements full filled we started the building processAll was well with our working relationshipAs the processed progressed the [redacted] ’s wanted to make changes to plans ,different from what was drawn by the architect and submitted to the townshipI asked the [redacted] ’s if they reached out to the architect to make changes or as builts for the township and was told the architect would not get back to them We proceeded with the changes to plans and the drawings provided to us by the [redacted] ’s .I have all the copies of the drawings we were given by themSo as to the claim of us not following the architects drawings we were instructed by the [redacted] ’s to make all the changes to the buildingWith no architect assistance we proceeded and as the project progress other things were affected by the interior changes, the roof line, floor joists etcWe built all as what we thought would be correct and structurally sound and went over each step and answered concerns with the [redacted] ’s because they are very hands on during the project and provided us with the changes. As for the accusation of delaying inspections , we did not delay any inspectionSpoke to the township about the inspections required and the next inspection was after mechanicals installed, spoke to township and confirmed and also from experience with other projects having the same inspection scheduleThere was other contractors working on the site not with us but independently for the [redacted] ’s doing work that should have been permitted and was not We were asked multiple times when are inspection were scheduled and if we could delay so other work could be completed by this contractor with the township not knowing about itOn numerous occasions I reached out to the township as this was going on and asked what I could do about this, they said to email a letter but I did not follow through , at this point I regret that I did not, was walking a fine line on trying to keep our part of the project moving smoothlyThere are other things that have occurred on the property that I do not want to get involved with and only want to address the claims against us and issues that have occurred with usWe have had tools stolen from the site as well as material we purchased, I brought this to the [redacted] ’s attention and I reached out to the Solesbury detective about this issues also. All of this was prior to the claim against us.When we left the site it was because of other work being done around us and did not make it efficient or safe for us to be on location at that time We were accused of leaving the site at that time by the [redacted] ’s but we told them it was only until the other contractor was completedWe had a meeting to clear this upPrior to us coming back , while I was on vacation the [redacted] ’s contacted the township and architect and accused us of abandoning the site and reached out to youThis is not true on our part and at this time I have men on site completing the siding work and have had numerous conversations with the [redacted] ’sI am trying to make this a clean parting of the ways and do the right thing and not tarnish our reputationI have also expressed this to the [redacted] ’s.Thank you for letting me tell our side and please feel free to call me with any questions and concerns.Nick W
