When Ms*** hired us to do her roof she had three major problems The first problem was that there were too many layers of shingles on her roof and she was very concerned that the weight was going to make her roof cave in The state code is that there are only
two layers allowed on top of a roof Ms *** had five layers The second issue was that there was no aluminum flashing anywhere on her roof where it was supposed to be The third problem was that there were leaks coming in around the base of her chimney When we removed all of the layers of roofing we found severe wood rot around the base of the chimney caused by water coming in We replaced the rotted wood and installed the roof After installing the roof we installed aluminum counter flashing to the base of the chimney to prevent any future leaks The Roof was completed on August 7th Ms *** contacted our office the week of February 16th 2015, six months after we completed her roof She stated she had water coming into her house At the cost to American Home Remodeling we sent our roofer to the house within two business days and removed all of the shingles and flashing around the chimney Upon inspection we found dry wood and no leaks having to do with any part of the roof This cost was a cost that we covered because we stand by our work and do not run away from our customers. Even though the problem was not related to our job Ms *** even states that the problem went away after we completed the roof The roof was leaking every time it rained before we replaced her roof After we replaced the roof the leak stopped Water coming in from needing a chimney liner months after we completed our job has nothing to do with not diagnosing the problem correctly back in August of 2014. The chimney liner is addressed from the top of the chimney and the roof flashing is done at the base of the chimney where it meets the roof. Again, one has nothing to do with the other We fixed the specific problem that she was having in August of The new problem is that her chimney needs a liner This is a new problem If the water was coming in from needing a chimney liner when we did the job it would have continued to leak after we completed the roof, not stop leaking and then come back six months later We are a little puzzled that she expects us to cover repairs to her chimney that are arising six months after we completed her roof We have a perfect track record and stand by our work If the problem was something that we were responsible for, we would have no problem addressing it and fixing it

Amazing! John Fiore was great to deal withHighly professional, easy to work with, and super responsiveHe was readily available to answer any questions I had, talk through the smallest details of the job and regularly on-site to supervise the workThe work crews, and foreman Paul were fantasticThey were promptly on-time every day and were easy to speak to as wellThey immaculately cleaned the job site at the end of every day and most importantly, their work was of the highest qualityEven after the work was completed and I had some small details that I wanted addressed, they quickly came back to ensure my satisfactionMy house literally looks brand newI would easily look to hire them for future jobs

Review: We noticed that the wall where are chimney is located kept puffing up. It was a result of water damage. We received the service of American Home Remodeling. Of which [redacted] promised that he would find the issue and solve it. Even though the issue was specifically located around the chimney [redacted] insisted that a new roof would solve the problem. At first there was no signs of any leaking after the repairs were done. But as time passed the same issue came up again. After several phone calls to the company they gave us the answer that it must of not been the roof but rather the chimney itself. And that a chimney liner is what is actually needed. Each time we try to set up an appointment with the company so that they can come and see for themselves what further damage has been done, they do not show up for the appointment but rather ignore us all together. This has been the result the last three times we tried to set up an appointment.Desired Settlement: All we want is for the issue to be resolved at the cost of the company. Because this issue should have been solved if the right diagnosis was given in the first place. Instead a new roof and ten thousand dollars later and the same problem still persist.

Response:

When Ms. [redacted] hired us to do her roof she had three major problems. The first problem was that there were too many layers of shingles on her roof and she was very concerned that the weight was going to make her roof cave in. The state code is that there are only two layers allowed on top of a roof. Ms [redacted] had five layers. The second issue was that there was no aluminum flashing anywhere on her roof where it was supposed to be. The third problem was that there were leaks coming in around the base of her chimney. When we removed all of the layers of roofing we found severe wood rot around the base of the chimney caused by water coming in. We replaced the rotted wood and installed the roof. After installing the roof we installed aluminum counter flashing to the base of the chimney to prevent any future leaks. The Roof was completed on August 7th 2014. Ms [redacted] contacted our office the week of February 16th 2015, six months after we completed her roof. She stated she had water coming into her house. At the cost to American Home Remodeling we sent our roofer to the house within two business days and removed all of the shingles and flashing around the chimney. Upon inspection we found dry wood and no leaks having to do with any part of the roof. This cost was a cost that we covered because we stand by our work and do not run away from our customers. Even though the problem was not related to our job. Ms [redacted] even states that the problem went away after we completed the roof. The roof was leaking every time it rained before we replaced her roof. After we replaced the roof the leak stopped. Water coming in from needing a chimney liner 6 months after we completed our job has nothing to do with not diagnosing the problem correctly back in August of 2014. The chimney liner is addressed from the top of the chimney and the roof flashing is done at the base of the chimney where it meets the roof. Again, one has nothing to do with the other. We fixed the specific problem that she was having in August of 2014. The new problem is that her chimney needs a liner. This is a new problem. If the water was coming in from needing a chimney liner when we did the job it would have continued to leak after we completed the roof, not stop leaking and then come back six months later. We are a little puzzled that she expects us to cover repairs to her chimney that are arising six months after we completed her roof. We have a perfect track record and stand by our work. If the problem was something that we were responsible for, we would have no problem addressing it and fixing it.
