the warranty to be valid and remain in force, customers are required to perform certain things. A couple of them is to have proof of the radiator being checked out and call in the odometer reading at the time of installation. See the included written warranty, neither were provided. On September 26,2012 (invoice #[redacted]) mileage of 165,444 [redacted] dropped off his vehicle for diagnosis of water in the oil. American & Import Engines determined that the engine he installed had been severely overheated. American & Import Engines installs heat tabs on all engine rebuilds to verify if a customer has overheated the engine. The heat tabs melt at 280 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat tabs on [redacted]'s engine were melted. Per our warranty, engine damage caused by overheating/melted heat tabs voids the warranty [redacted] requested American & Import Engines to fix the engine as cheap as possible. The work was completed on October 8,2012. At that time [redacted] was told and was noted on the invoice that, there may be additional undetermined hidden damage from the overheating. On September 5, 2014, see invoice #23932, at a mileage of 187,701, 22,257 since the last engine repair, [redacted] dropped off his vehicle with a concerns of oil consumption. American & Import Engines discovered that there was damage to #3 cylinder from water ( rust pits) and that the engine would have to be removed and completely gone through to repair the damage. In discussion with [redacted], it was stated that American & Import Engines would repair the engine free and perform all labor for $1 ,000.00 as a customer courtesy. [redacted] accepted and authorized the repairs. [redacted] then asked if we could install racing cams, he was told we do not alter stock engines. As to [redacted]'s request, we believe that [redacted] has caused all engine damage from lack of installation knowledge and not performing requested items for warranty purposes. American & Import Engines has gone way beyond it's Obligations, so no refund will be considered.

I am rejecting this response because:i have called 3 times about my engine light and no one will talk to me. I have also got the response "how will call you" and never a call. When the engine overheated, I did not disclose where my car was and how many miles it took to get he and you claimed it overheated from an air bubble. The last time work was done, both me and my wife, were told that the problems in the engine were from the overheating, why wasn't it fixed during the second repair?  As far as the engine light, when I left with my car I was told that I have no warrenty. Rebuilding the engine again and I don't get a new warrenty is what I was told. I can't afford to bring my car in and pay over $1000 again because you didn't want to renew the warrenty. Furthermore, I will get bad service because of this complaint. The car bogs down and will not go over a specific amount of RPM's. These problems should not be happening.

I am rejecting this response because: I called when I put the motor in to record my engines milage. My father, a mechinic, put the motor into my vechical. It was done properly and with plenty of knowledge. I my radiator was checked like asked. I than drove from Le grand, CA to Redding, Ca, this trip is over 300 miles. It had no problems and was completely fine. Around 800 miles later, the engine as stated by American and Import Engines, "had an air bubble that burst" causing the engine to over heat. According to multiple other mechanics, this air bubble would not stay in the engine for that many miles. I believe this excuse was made because they wanted more money. They quoted me $2100 for the initial engine but when we dropped it off I was informed that I should've been charged $3100. I believe this is why the shop did not want to stand by their warranty. They made excuses and would not make right their bad job they did. 3 times getting better replaced and my engine light is still on to this day! 1.28.15. If my car does not pass smog I will be forced to sue. If their job was done right the first time we would have these problems. On top of that, my engine light SHOULD NOT be on right now.

What a outstanding shop to have your vehicle work on..Joe runs a nice and honest shop..I won't take my ride any where else..They do business right.

Review: I got my engine rebuilt here. They quoted me just over $2000. After the engine was completed, I took the motor to Le Grand, Ca. My dad, a mechanic, put the motor in my car and I drove home, to redding which is a 5 hour drive. Almost 1,000 miles later I was having a motor problem again. Took it back in to the shop. They would not stand by their warranty and claimed that the motor "had an air bubble" which popped ad caused water to get in the oil and warp the motor head. I called my wife's mechanic and he and 3 others said that air bubbles are possible but not that last over 100 miles. My mechanic dad believes it is caused from them not butting the head down right. They told my wife they should've charge me $3000 for the motor in the first place and after the second time they charge us a little over $1000 totaling over $3000. My wife got my oil changed after 3,000 miles like suggested and the man who did it said the oil is really brunt and if this is a new motor you need to take it back and get it checked out. I called at least 3 times and they turned me away. Said they wanted a report for how much and when you put oil in for 2-3 months. I had to drive to and from work and it needed oil every time I furled. Took it back in and they claimed that because of the air bubble, less than 20,000 miles now that I needed a new motor. They wouldn't give me details I asked not stood by there warranty or supplied. New warranty after the second rebuild.Desired Settlement: I would like all my money from them, if not at least the first and second times they worked on my car. The total for all three times came out to around $4500.00 and if I can't get the entire thing back because it should've not been this much work and effort. I want at least the last two times back which is between $2000 and $2500.

In conclusion, with this final letter in this matter, when you dropped off your vehicle with 1,100 miles on it after your father installed the engine, we discovered that both heat tabs, on the head and the block, were melted. The heat tabs melt at 280 degrees Fahrenheit. As per our written warranty, melted heat tabs void the warranty and our obligation to you ends at that time. As in the written warranty, and as we mentioned to you, there are many reasons that can cause a vehicle to overheat. Some of these, to list a few, are: a leaking hose, cooling fans not working or not plugged in, a bad radiator, timing set incorrectly, a vacuum leak, running lean, or an air bubble in the cooling system. You keep referring to the air bubble, we know you would not have an air bubble after 1,100 miles. It was only one of the list of possible causes of overheating an engine. This would happen on initial installation start up. A majority of customers will deny they overheated their engine. Therefore, The only proof we have that a customer overheated an engine, is a melted heat tab which voids the warranty. You keep referring to, we just wanted more money from you. If you look at the last invoice, we repaired the engine for FREE, and did $1,674.50 installation for $1,000.00. We had no obligation to even repair the engine. Self installed engines do not have a labor warranty. In your last letter you mentioned that your check engine light is on. This is the first we have heard of that. A check engine light can be serious, and may indicate a condition that may damage the engine. We hope you have not been driving it.
