Our apologies for not responding sooner. I am employed by IHC Specialty Benefits, Inc. (IHCSB). The assets of American Insurance Agencies Direct, Inc. (AIA) were purchased by IHCSB. For all intents and purposes, AIA no longer exists as an ongoing business entity or insurance agency. In investigating this matter, it was discovered that one of our systems was sending out emails using the AIA email address. Because IHCSB purchased the assets of AIA, which included existing policies, the AIA email address is set to forward to IHCSB. We believe we have resolved this issue and Ms. should not receive any further emails from AIA.

Persistent sales calls
Receive call after call after call on a continuing basis from this company. Have asked him repeatedly to remove me from their sales list and they continue to call regardless. Have called them back numerous times to notify them of the situation and they become rude.

Desired Outcome

Stop calling me

Mr.,

Please accept our sincere apology. It seems that you went on line and entered in your information without knowing that you would be contacted by an insurance agent.

I have contacted the company that we received the request from and advised that they please retract if they provided your information to any other agency.

We had made 2 attempts since receiving your information and upon receiving this we immediately deactivated the request. We did not know that you had not made the request since we never spoke.

Hopefully our request to the lead vendor has ceased all calls to you.

Once again we apologize for any and all inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,
On behalf of AIA Direct, LLC
Dina G.

I"m reporting this company due to the unethical business practices by an insurance agent signing up for health insurance.
I spoke with an insurance agent by the name of Tyler from American Insurance Direct to assist me with signing up for a health insurance plan. I was told I would be getting medical dental, vision and an additional coverage for accidental coverage. I made the mistake of giving him my card information. I was told the initial charge was $138 and would go down to $99 a month. it states Surebridge Supplemental App Ap ID-1014536 through Docusign. I later check my bank account and I see charges of $124.24 -Loomis Co FBO, $29- Chesapeake-Surebridge and $32.95- VBA NEA Member Services. This is very unethical and would like to be refunded. The agent never mentioned any of these extra charges. From what I've read about this company they're a scam.

Desired Outcome

I would like to make sure I'm refunded the money and to make sure they don't continue to take money out of my account going forward.

Dear Mr. Sangiorgio,

I sincerely apologize on behalf of our company and the agent that assisted you.

As a company our goal is always to provide you with the best assistance and service to your full understanding of your insurance options.

Unfortunately it seems that we fell short of not conveying the information in a manner that resulted in that being the case. Please know for as long as we have been in business that it was not with malice or intent.

I believe that at this time you were able to cancel your applications and receive your refund.

Again please accept our apology and if in the future we can assist you in any way, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Every 5 minutes, they are calling my cell number with local and long distance numbers. I did not request their services. they need to stop
Last couple of days, average 20 times a day, AIA calling me and try to sell their services. I told them many times, I already have health insurance and I am not interested. They are using different numbers and they do not want to stop. I had to turn of my cell phone.

Desired Outcome

they need to remove my number from their list. The name they are looking for is not me. I clearly stated that

Dear Mr. ***,

On behalf of America Insurance Agencies, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced.

Please note that the lead that we purchased had a different name on the inquiry which did not allow us to know that it was not placed by you.

Sadly we had not made communication directly with you and until receipt of this we were not aware that the information we were provided with your phone number was entered by someone else.

At times it is not uncommon that when someone has gone on line that they inadvertently reverse a digit or enter incorrectly.

We did contact the lead vendor and asked that all of the information they were provided to be removed in addition to them asking any other agencies to also remove and stop contact.

We immediately upon receipt of this notice removed all of your information from our system and have made no further attempts to contact you.

Please know that our intent is to assist those that are searching for insurance navigate through the process.

We had made 3 attempts since receiving your information. I am certain that it is difficult to know which Agency is calling when so many have the same area code prefix and or it does not show who is calling.

In closing, please accept our sincere apology and know this was not with malice or intent.

Sincerely,

Dina G.

This company is incessantly calling my cell daily, soliciting health insurance. I've repeatedly asked them to remove me from their call list.
This company called me on 10/24/18 from (XXX)XXX-XXXX and (XXX)XXX-XXXX soliciting insurance. I asked to be removed from their list. I then received a text message from them (XXX)XXX-XXXX asking to call them back at (XXX)XXX-XXXX. I received another call from them on 10/25/18 and again from (XXX)XXX-XXXX and asked them to remove me from their list and explained to them that I felt harassed and that they've been reaching out to me despite my request for them to stop. I asked what needs to happen and the rep on the phone became belligerent and said I can report them and that she can't guarantee someone else fro her team wouldn't call me.

Desired Outcome

I would like for them to stop contacting me.

Dear Ms. ***,

Thank You for taking the time to address your concerns.

We Sincerely apologize for any any all inconvenience this situation has caused you.

I understand that with so many Agencies calling and using the same area code it is difficult to know where the calls are coming from.

I am uncertain if the person who entered the inquiry that we received was from you. The name that is on the inquiry is Ian Cush. Sadly with technology today there is not a way for the lead vendors to know who is inquiring and we all rely on what has been entered on line.

Next please know that we have taken your name off of our data base and you *** not receive any further calls or any communication from our Agency.
I have also asked our IT department to research the lead vendor and request that they contact any other company that they may have provided the inquiry to.

In addition I asked that our IT department search for any communication that we may have had with you. It is always our priority to promptly remove anyone that asks to be removed or not contacted. They were unable to find any communication.

Please know that we are here to assist those needing help in finding their health insurance not to harass or inconvenience.

In closing again my Sincere apologies on behalf of our Agency.

Sincerely,

Dina G.

If calls persist again, case will be reopened.

I received a call from Drew H. with AIA Direct on May 25th 2018 at 10:19AM PST. The call was from (941) 487-6478. The number left to call back was (941) 256-2131.

I made a request for insurance which I purchased on January 31st, therefore the need was resolved. I am assuming my information was forwarded to this entity, who refuses to accept my request to be added to their Do Not Call list.

I have told this company that I already purchased and am no longer in need.
I have told this company to add me to their Do Not Call list at least twice.
I have blocked several numbers from this company and yet they continue to call me from different extensions.

Dear Ms.,

First I would like to apologize for all of the inconvenience and miscommunication that has occurred.

As an Agency with Licensed Brokers they do purchase leads from multiple vendors. It is unfortunate that your information was not on a timely bases for when you were searching.

Please know that our intent is only to call those that are actively looking for insurance. I have searched our data base in addition to working with our IT department to inquire if there was any communication with one of our Agents with your request to be removed.

I am aware that with so many companies calling you that when you receive multiple calls from various phone numbers that it is difficult to know exactly which Agency is contacting you.

Please know that we have removed any information that we received and that you *** not be contacted by us for any reason.

Unfortunately this does not change the fact that you were inconvenienced and that you did have to go to this extreme to be heard.

Again I can not apologize enough for the occurrence. We do our best to work within the scope of only reaching out to those who inquire. Sadly the outcome for you was not what we aim to do.

I understand that the apology does not justify your time spent. It is sincere, my only wish is that it had not taken place.

Sincerely,

Dina G.

AIA Direct insurance agent used fraudulent tactics to sell health insurance plan by being misleading and giving false information.
The AIA Direct insurance agent, Kristina *** was misleading and gave false information in order to sell a specific health insurance plan. AIA Direct contacted me after I visited their website to get information about health insurance plan options. The agent falsely told me that I would not qualify under Obama Care, and sold me a plan called "Multiplan Nationwide PPO" which I thought was a comprehensive health care plan. I was specific in asking for a comprehensive plan and did not find out until they collected my money and sent me the application that the Multiplan Nationwide PPO is a supplemental plan that does not meet the minimum standard set out by the Affordable Care Act. When I contacted them to cancel the plan I stated that they were misleading and did not disclose that the plan was a supplemental plan, and when I stated that I would be penalized by not having a comprehensive plan the agent stated that would not happen and they would send me a waiver. In addition, the agent was very pushy and used tactics to pressure me. I asked them to cancel the application and to stop the charge to my credit card. The agent stated she would submit a cancellation request in writing but would not take the charge off of my credit card. I responded via email stating that was not acceptable and that she needed to reverse the charge. She did not respond.

Desired Outcome

This business falsely advertises that their agents are licensed to assist individuals in making a decision about health insurance and falsely claim they are not just selling a specific product. In addition the website falsely claims to help consumers find the appropriate health insurance plan when in fact what they are doing is tricking consumers into purchasing a supplemental plan that does not meet minimum requirements of ACA. In addition, this business uses pressure tactics to dissuade the consumer from accessing ObamaCare and pressures them to purchase a specific product that does not meet minimum requirements.

Dear Ms. ***,

We are extremely sorry and disheartened that you were left feeling that we used fraudulent tactics when assisting you with your health insurance needs.

First, please know that we as a company and your Agent Kristina Angelova is Certified with the ACA in an effort to assist our clients with the health insurance that is best suited for them.

If you recall we did look at the policies available for you through the ACA Exchange.

Again my sincere apologies as it is evident that somewhere in the communication there was a breakdown of what was reviewed.

By law we are required to record what is called a "Verification Portion of the Call" in which you were asked if you understand and agree that the policy that you were applying for is not a major medical and does not meet the minimum standards required by the Affordable Care Act.

We do understand that choosing health insurance is a stressful process for anyone. Especially where the costs are extremely high and difficult to determine the best route to take. Again this is why we do and did review with you your options.

Please know that the company that you applied with as with any company, we as licensed agents are never the ones that process your payment nor do we have the ability to refund you. All companies require that the request for cancellation is made to them directly from the client/policy holder.

You are well within the timeline to cancel your policy and will receive if you have not already your full amount of payment.

In closing should you have any questions or require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me. On behalf of our company and Kristina Angelova we are sincerely sorry for how you felt.

Sincerely,

Dina M

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response from AIA Direct Insurance Agency to my complaint. They did not review any coverage options under ACA and in fact discouraged me from pursuing ACA stating that I didn't need it and would be better off getting "private insurance". In stead they used a fraudulent tactic of presenting this "private insurance" in lieu of ACA and never disclosed that what they were offering was a supplemental insurance policy that did not meet minimum requirements of the ACA. I had clearly stated that I needed a comprehensive health care plan. Not only did they lie about the type of plan they were selling, when I called back to cancel the plan after seeing the policy, the agent stated that I didn't need to worry about being penalized for having a supplemental plan that does not meet ACA minimum requirments because they would send me a waiver to sign. I stated this was unacceptable and cancelled the plan. I have not yet been reimbursed for the charges. This company is marketing themselves as having "licensed agents" who are there to assist you in making informed choices about health care plans. This is clearly false. They are only interested in selling specific supplemental plans and may as well be sales people for Nationwide. In addition, they did not disclose that in addition to the health care plan, they signed me up for a one time death benefit policy for additional monthly fee that I never agreed to, asked for, or was informed about during the phone call. Health insurance is a critical decision impacting my life. I do not appreciate time wasted and money taken by a company who has no interest in actually assisting me as a costumer; rather, they are only interested in making a sale that is not to my benefit, but to their own. A satisfactory response would be to have a third party investigate their fraudulent sales tactics to protect consumers from getting plans that do not meet their needs or meet minimum requirements under ACA. These agents are clearly trained to make such sales in order to meet a quota on a product for their bottom line, and not for meeting the needs of the costumer. Health care is a crucial decision for all of us. To be tricked into getting a plan that would not address the needs of the consumer is fraudulent and could lead to devastating outcomes for that individual. Not every consumer would have the understanding or wherewithal to figure this out and many people are I'm sure going to have negative consequences because of this company's unethical sales tactics.

American Insurance Agencies Direct Response

At this time it is difficult to continue to apologize for what is not clear that transpired during the communication with our office.

In an effort to be totally transparent I have attached the call in its entirety.

This should support our position that the allegations did not pertain to what took place.

Should there be any further questions upon review I *** be happy to communication.

Again I am sincerely sorry that the perception does not reflect what took place.

Sincerely,

Dina
