This is a case of confusion and misunderstanding. The client had a complicated case and was not able to provide our firm with ANY information or documentation about the events that led up to a tax liability with the FTB. This required our firm to reach out to many different entities in
order to properly file and correct his and state tax returns. As a matter of fact, the client initially believed his tax liability stemmed from and 2001. At the time of the complaint, a draft copy of the returns were in the clients mailbox waiting for his review. Since then, he has reviewed the returns and signed the final copies and they have been sent over to the FTB for processingThe final disposition of his case is that he started with a tax liability of about and after the returns finish processing, his balance will be reduced to a refund of a few hundred dollars, which he will never receive because it is past the statute. Sometimes things take a little longer than expected when we have to order records from different institutions that take time to process these requestWe wish Tom and his wife well and apologize for any confusion, but we are happy to say that the final results will work out very will for them
