Review: During the Christmas Season of 2011, my husband and I purchased holiday lights for the house from American Lawn Brothers (ABL). ABL was to put up the lights at the beginning of the season and then take them down and store them all year. The lights were defective. Only about 50% of the lights illuminated. ABL was called and eventually the lights were replaced. A few days later many of the lights went out. ABL assured us that over the non holiday time they would get in touch with the manufacturer and get the lights replaced with outdoor lighting that was comperable to what we had agreed upon and purchased. In 2012, the lights were put up. About 2 weeks later many of them went out. ABL was called, the lights were replaced only to have the lights go out again. ABL stated the problem would be taken care of over the non holiday season. In 2013, ABL put up holiday lights on my house, about 2 weeks later the lights weren't out yet again. They were fixed and then they went out again. This process happened 3 or 4 times over the holiday season. We verbally informed ALB that we either wanted our money back or lights that actually worked the first time and worked consistently. On October 31, 2014 ABL mailed us our first invoice for last years lack of service in the amount of $1990.62. This invoice has more than $300.00 worth of finance charges on it. The lights and the first year of installation was $4770.39. I believe we have spent close to $8,000.00 on this holiday lighting disaster. We do not want any more promises.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is to get the money I spent for the lights and most of the installation money as well as storage money returned to me. I would also like for all communication to end with ABL. They should not be allowed to invoice us for services not provided. They should be responsible for products they sell.

Review: This pertains invoice #[redacted] for services that include "labor to prune/limb tree branches & shrubs and clean-up resulting debris." This invoice was pre-paid in full in early April 2013, and while most items of work have been completed (or in progress), this one item has not been done. It is part of pre-season clean-up and clearly well overdue. My wife and I ended up having to do the pruning of tree branches ourselves to create space in the front yard, this was a week ago (mid-June).

I have contacted the owner twice by email and received no response. I also had to contact at least once previously regarding another item on the invoice (mulching) which was lagging, that was taken care of subsequently but with some delay and no communication despite my requests for a timing estimate so that I could plan accordingly.

The lack of communication is frustrating, as I received an almost instant response when I sent a question about the invoice shortly after receiving it, so it's clear the owner is capable of responding quickly.Desired Settlement: Requested refund for the specific invoiced item ($90 plus taxes 5% less pre-pay discount of 3%) a week ago. Have not heard back and would like this refunded promptly.

Review: I set up a contract with American Lawn Brothers for a bi-weekly grass cut and from the beginning, they did not hold up to it. The assistant said that the service would be provided on a particular day and instead it was 4 days late. I then tried to contact the company on a daily basis with no success. First appointment they charged me for two lawn cuts which was not relayed to me in the beginning. The following two cuts were not on a bi-weekly session like discussed and promised. The responsiveness back to me was very poor and am still trying to come to an agreement with no resolution by American Lawn Brothers. We have since requested that they stop providing the poor service and requested a refund for the remaining amount I paid. They have taken us off the grass cutting list but have not provided us the remaining amount of money for services not rendered.Desired Settlement: A refund for the amount of the services they did not provide.
