Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/25) */
American Medical Technologists (AMT) is dedicated to encouraging, establishing and maintaining the highest standards, traditions, and principles of the disciplines which constitute the allied health professions of the certification agency and
the Registry
The AMT certification credential is recognized nationally and internationally as a true mark of qualityCertification represents recognition of an individual's professional competence, both current and ongoingTo be an AMT "active certified member," means the individual is both certified and actively participating in the professional activities of the organization
Continuing AMT certification is dependent upon evidence of current competencyThere are a variety of ways to demonstrate current competency: continuing professional education (CE), employment, as well as retaking the exam, etcAMT alerts all of our members to this requirementAMT is only able to notify members if the contact information the member has provided to AMT is up to date
All AMT certified members are required to pay an annual fee in order to keep their status activeThis fee also helps to defray the costs of other professional benefits that members enjoy throughout the yearSome of these benefits include the Annual Convention, State society meetings and seminars, Publications: Journal of Continuing Education Topics & Issues and Events, STEP Online Continuing Education, and other activities
Individuals who have not maintained an "active certified status" are required to recertifyThis policy is clearly defined on the AMT website
Individuals must recertify if:
Originally certified prior to January 1, AND who have failed to pay an annual fee for three or more years
Originally certified after January 1, 2006, and who at the end of their three year Certification Continuation Program (CCP) cycle, have failed to pay an annual fee for one or more years AND/OR have failed to comply with AMT's Certification Continuation Program (CCP) - (CCP is AMT's recertification program.)
Who are audited for compliance with CCP and do not provide supporting documentation
If an individual's certification has lapsed longer than years, the individual may only recertify via examination
The complainant was initially certified by AMT September AMT received an address change in and again in The individual called AMT in April and requesting a name change as well as to update the addressThis individual was informed of the AMT policy that if an individual's certification lapsed for longer than years they would have to recertify and since it was greater than years, would need to recertify by examinationThe individual was told how to go about the processThe individual then called back on June 17th inquiring about the recertification process againThe individual was informed of the process and again about the name change formThe individual submitted the official name change form on June Then on July 7th the member called again requesting a copy of her certification, but due to the fact the member needed to recertify this request could not be completedThe individual informed the AMT staffperson that she had been working and had gone back to school in and believed that it should not be necessary for her to comply with the requirement to recertify and requested to be directed to a higher authorityThe individual was then redirected to the Education Department were the same information was explainedThis was not accepted by the individual and individual requested to speak to a supervisorThe call was directed to the Education Director who did call the individual and again the same information was related as to the process and why this policy is enforcedAMT's recertification policy is a part of our National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accreditation renewalAMT's recertification policy is a relevant and acceptable process demonstrating certificants are currently competent in their field
AMT continues to maintain the position that this individual needs to comply with the established policy

AMT would like to apologize to Ms*** and note that we regret the confusion and difficulty our procedures have caused. Our military applicants are required to provide their military transcripts, their *** (if discharged) and copies of their evaluations (if applicable). This
information is used to determine whether additional employment verification is needed, based on the time-frame the medical training was received and the duty status. Ms***'s transcripts indicated a status of 'Active' which led the processor to request additional information. We have since reviewed the documentation that we have received and have taken the following actions: 1) extended the end date of the current application months to May 16, 2018, and 2) authorized Ms*** to test as of today. An email has been sent to Ms*** to inform her of this action

She was awarded 25 points for her employment verification, which we processed today, 10/10/16. Her certification cycle was advanced. We are just awaiting her payment for the current year's dues of $50. She was not able to make her payment over the phone while speaking with our representative today. We gave her instructions on how to pay online. She understood that she will not get her new member/certification card until the payment is received.

Reply to [redacted] complaint [redacted].  On September 7, 2017, the complainant notified AMT that she was turned away from the testing site and did not want to have to pay the retesting fee.  While explaining our process and what needed to be done, the phone connection was broken.  An email...

was sent to the complainant on 9/7/2017and again on 9/8/2017, requesting additional information about the circumstances surrounding the incident, and if an incident report was logged with the test provider, P[redacted].  While waiting for this information, our liaison requested that any information that P[redacted] may have related to the matter be investigated.  The subsequent investigation revealed that the complainant was turned away in error.   On 9/8/2017 I notified the complainant that this was the case and that P[redacted] would be contacting her to arrange for her examination to be delivered without any additional cost to the complainant.  As this is a matter between P[redacted] and the complainant, AMT has no direct involvement with this process.  If the complainant is unable to schedule her examination, or has not been contacted by P[redacted] to reschedule her examination, the complainant should contact AMT at her earliest convenience so we can reach out to P[redacted] and try to move the process along.

AMT has contacted [redacted] submitted her employment points online to satisfy the continuing education requirement (CCP), but she made an error in the start date that did not match her CCP cycle and therefore was not counted towards her 30 points. If she provides us proof of the employment...

verification she submitted incorrectly online, we can correct her record, advance her certification cycle and allow her to pay the $50 dues to be back as an active certified member. We have reached out to her via voice mail and email. Action from [redacted] in response to our contact with her is required to bring resolution to the issue.AMT does send reminders to members when their CCP points are due. [redacted] was sent an email reminder on or near 7/1/2016 that she needed to provide additional points before 9/1/2016. We look forward to resolving this issue with [redacted] once we receive her information.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The email I received from them said my employment verification  was 12 points if I  send it to them they can fix the error and give me my one point.  I did email my paper to them but why are they only giving me 12 points for employee verification. The employee verification is worth 18 points.  Why are they still trying not to give me  all my points.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
